Venezia vs Udinese: 20th against 19th, and Zanetti’s debut at his old club
Venezia have gone 311 minutes without a goal. They’ve lost nine of their ten Serie A games, which makes them only the third side to lose at least nine of their first ten, and they’re still favourites at the Stadio Penzo on Friday 6 November, kick-off 19:45 UK time.
Venezia are 20th with three points, Udinese 19th with five, and Monza are 18th on seven. Each of the two sides has one league win, and they’ve conceded 43 goals between them.
Udinese have changed coach since the 5-2 home defeat by Roma. Kosta Runjaic has gone and Paolo Zanetti takes over until the end of the season, starting at the club where he spent 81 matches between 2020 and 2022. Davide Nicola, who replaced Stroppa in the Venezia dugout, had 15 matches there in 2018/19.
The prices read 2.25 Venezia, 3.40 the draw and 3.20 Udinese. We think the home advantage is overrated in that market, because Venezia have one win, four defeats and three goals scored from five games at the Penzo, against ten conceded.
Udinese won the most recent meeting 2-1 in the Coppa Italia on 2 September, with Vakoun Bayo scoring twice. This is the 13th Serie A meeting between the clubs, Udinese lead it with five wins to four, and their only league win at the Penzo came on 10 April 2022, by 2-1.
Juan Luca Sacchi referees. The last two league meetings each produced five goals, with Venezia winning 3-2 on 30 October 2024 and Udinese winning 3-2 on 1 February 2025. We don’t expect a repeat, because only one of Venezia’s last five games has gone over 2.5 goals. The market has the over at 1.80 and the under at 2.00.
Venezia: three straight scoreless defeats and six league goals from ten games
The last six league results read 2-0 at home to Lazio, 3-1 at Atalanta, a 1-0 home win over Napoli, 1-0 at Genoa, 2-0 at home to Inter and 1-0 at Como. Venezia failed to score in four of those six, and the Napoli win is their only league victory.
Six goals from ten games leaves little margin. Hainaut and Adams have two each, both of Adams’ coming at home, and nobody else has more than one in the figures we’ve seen.
Venezia’s games have stayed low-scoring: only one of their last five had both teams on the scoresheet, and only one went over 2.5 goals. The defeats at Genoa and Como were both by a single goal.
Nicola has three players definitely out: Sverko with a hip problem, Franjic with a shoulder injury and Adorante after a hernia. Correia has been carrying a thigh strain and is unlikely to feature, while Mazzocchi and Helgason are doubts.
The likely shape is a back three of Halhal, Moreno and Jesus, with Hainaut and possibly Mazzocchi as wing-backs and Yeboah alongside Adams. Five straight away defeats make the home games the only source of points so far, and Venezia have taken just three of those from a possible 15.

Udinese: seven defeats in eight, but 1.8 goals a game away from the Friuli
Udinese have lost seven of their last eight league games, their worst start this century. The run of 1-0 at home to Cagliari, 2-1 at Torino, 3-0 at home to Lecce, 2-0 at home to Milan, 0-0 at Parma and 5-2 at home to Roma cost Runjaic his job.
At the Friuli they’ve taken one point from six games. Away from Udine they’ve won one, drawn one and lost two, scoring 1.8 goals a game and conceding 2.3, and the only clean sheet in that six-game run came on the road at Parma.
Jurgen Ekkelenkamp leads the scoring with three league goals and Hassane Kamara has two. Palma, at 18 years, seven months and 18 days, became the youngest scorer in Serie A this season against Roma, and Nicolo Zaniolo also scored that night.
Keinan Davis has now gone 13 league games without a goal. David Alaba is out with a calf problem until around 22 November, Alessandro Zanoli has a muscle injury and Idrissa Gueye won’t return from his ankle problem before January.
Bayo’s thigh injury is likely to keep him out until mid-November, so the top scorer in September’s meeting probably won’t play. Oumar Solet is a doubt, though Zanetti has Lovric available and can pick Okoye behind a back three, with Zaniolo and Ekkelenkamp in support of Davis.
Udinese’s last five games have had both teams scoring twice and gone over 2.5 goals three times, with the 5-2 against Roma and the 3-0 against Lecce doing most of that. Both teams to score is 1.62 here, and the no is 2.20.
Probable lineup Venezia: Stankovic; Halhal, Moreno, Jesus; Hainaut, Perez, Busio, Sohm, Mazzocchi; Yeboah, Adams
Probable lineup Udinese: Okoye; Abankwah, Solet, Palma; Vojvoda, Karlstrom, Piotrowski, Kamara; Zaniolo, Ekkelenkamp; Davis
Free Serie A Prediction: Venezia vs Udinese
Our prediction: Udinese or draw (double chance X2) @ 1.67
Venezia have scored three goals in five home league games and none in their last three matches. Udinese have scored at an average of 1.8 goals a game on their travels, and they’ve won the last meeting between the clubs as well as five of the last seven league meetings.
The argument for the hosts is their one home win, 1-0 against Napoli, and a price that makes them favourites. Udinese’s 23 goals conceded are a real concern, and Zanetti takes over a back line missing Alaba.
We’d still weigh away form and the 311-minute drought above the market’s preference for the home side. Udinese or the draw at 1.67 covers the likeliest outcomes, with a low-scoring game the most probable shape.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
