Malaga vs Racing Santander: a winless home side against five straight away defeats
Racing Santander concede 3.6 goals a game away from home. They’ve lost all five of their league trips, and the list includes 7-2 at Barcelona, 5-0 at Celta Vigo and 2-0 at Osasuna.
That record goes to La Rosaleda on Saturday 7 November, kick-off 13:00 UK time, where Malaga are waiting for their first league win of the season. Eleven games have brought five draws and six defeats, and they sit 20th on five points, five behind 17th place.
Racing are 16th with 11 points from three wins, two draws and six defeats. Their 29 goals conceded are the most in the division, and Malaga aren’t far behind on 21, though they’ve scored only eight at the other end.
As of Thursday, the top-flight programme was set to go ahead after the death of Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel on 2 November, with tributes planned at the grounds and several Segunda matches postponed.
The market has Malaga at 2.38, the draw at 3.60 and Racing at 2.80. Head-to-head form runs the other way: Malaga haven’t beaten Racing in six meetings since a 2-0 win on 23 February 2020, and the latest finished 1-1 on 24 May. We’d give more weight to what each side has done on these grounds this season.
Across all competitions, Malaga’s last five games brought one win, two draws and two defeats, with eight goals scored and nine conceded. Racing’s last five read two wins, a draw and two defeats, six scored and eight conceded, and both of those wins came against Espanyol and Ribadesella. Both teams scored in four of Malaga’s five.
Malaga: no league win in 11, seven players out and Nino on five goals
Malaga’s home record reads three draws and two defeats, with five goals scored and ten conceded. Real Sociedad did most of that damage, winning 5-2 here on 18 October, and Villarreal also won 3-1 at La Rosaleda.
Espanyol took a 1-1 draw on 9 October, and Malaga have failed to score in only one of their five games at La Rosaleda. Five of their eight league goals have come here.
Juan Francisco Funes saw his side lose 2-1 at Real Betis on 31 October after a 1-1 draw at Alaves on 23 October. Between those two games they won 3-0 at Sporting Alcazar in the Copa del Rey, their only victory in this run of matches.
Nino carries the attack with five goals in seven league games, Dotor has one and Larrubia has picked up four bookings. The side averages 1.0 expected goals for and 1.8 against, with eight shots a game.
The absentee list is long: Cruz, Recio, Murillo, Martinez, Munoz, Lobete and Ochoa are all unavailable. Funes is expected to name the side that started at Betis, with Herrero in goal and Lorenzo and Aznou supporting Nino.

Racing Santander: Zabiri has eight of their 15 goals, and the away record is 0-0-5
Yassir Zabiri has scored eight goals in 11 league games. Nobody else at the club has more than one in the figures we’ve seen, with Belocian, I Martin and Canales each on a single goal.
Jose Alberto’s side have taken all 11 of their points at El Sardinero, from three wins and two draws in six games there. They average 0.8 goals a game away from Santander, four in five trips.
Their last league game was a 3-0 home defeat by Real Madrid on 1 November. Before that they beat Espanyol 2-1 on 24 October, lost 2-0 at Osasuna on 18 October and drew 2-2 with Valencia on 11 October. They also won 2-0 at Ribadesella in the Copa del Rey on 29 October.
The squad is thinner than it was a week ago. Andres Martin is out with a muscle injury, Mantilla was hurt against Madrid and Almeida is suspended after a red card. Jorge Salinas returns from his ban, and goalkeeper Eriksson remains a doubt with a shoulder problem.
The underlying numbers aren’t flattering either: 1.4 expected goals for and 2.2 against, from nine shots a game. Agirrezabala is likely to start in goal behind Felipe, Ramon, Belocian and Salinas.
Racing’s record at La Rosaleda is better than this season’s away numbers. They won 1-0 there on 5 March 2023, drew 0-0 on 23 November 2024 and drew 1-1 on 24 May, so they haven’t lost on their last three visits. Their heavier wins over Malaga came in Santander, 2-1 on 1 February 2025 and 3-0 on 5 October 2025.
Probable lineup Malaga: Herrero; Puga, Calero, Galilea, Rafita; Enriquez; Larrubia, Dotor, Lorenzo, Aznou; Nino
Probable lineup Racing Santander: Agirrezabala; Felipe, Ramon, Belocian, Salinas; I Martin, Prati; Luque, Canales, Vicente; Zabiri

Our prediction: Malaga draw no bet @ 1.67
Racing have lost all five away league games, conceded 18 goals in them and scored four. Malaga have scored in four of their five home games, and Nino is averaging a goal every 1.4 appearances.
Against that, Malaga haven’t won a league game all season, they’re missing seven players and Racing have the better striker in Zabiri. The six-match head-to-head record also favours the visitors.
Draw no bet at 1.67 handles the main risk, which is another Malaga draw. We see Racing’s away defence as the biggest single factor here, and a home win is the likeliest result. We’d leave the 4.50 on Malaga to win to nil alone, given one clean sheet in five at home.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
