Aberdeen vs Hibernian: the bottom side arrive with a League Cup final booked
Hibernian produced 2.89 expected goals against Hearts in the League Cup semi-final, came from behind to win 2-1 and now have a final with Rangers ahead of them. In the Scottish Premiership they’re bottom, with eight points from 11 games.
Their next league game is at Pittodrie on Saturday 7 November, kick-off 17:45 UK time. Aberdeen are 10th on 11 points, three clear of Hibs, with a game in hand on the three sides directly above them.
Stephen Robinson’s side went the other way in the same cup round, losing 1-0 to Rangers to a late goal in their semi-final. That made it three straight defeats, after 3-2 at Dundee United and 1-0 at home to Falkirk, and Robinson is under pressure.
Hibs have earned almost everything on the road. Seven of the eight have come away from Easter Road, from two wins, a draw and two defeats, and they’ve scored six and conceded six on the road.
Prices have Aberdeen at 2.40, the draw at 3.40 and Hibs at 2.63. Hibs won two of the last three meetings played before this season, 2-0 at Easter Road on 30 December 2025 and 2-1 at Pittodrie on 26 October 2025, and the sides drew 1-1 at Easter Road on 19 September. We lean towards the visitors at those numbers.
The ten meetings back to February 2024 split into four Hibs wins, three Aberdeen wins and three draws, and goals have rarely been scarce: 4-0 to Aberdeen at Easter Road on 12 May 2024, 3-3 there on 26 November 2024 and 3-1 to Hibs at Pittodrie on 21 December 2024.
Aberdeen: seven of 11 points at home, and three defeats in a row
Before this losing run they won 4-0 at Motherwell, drew 1-1 at Hibs, lost 1-0 at home to St Johnstone and beat St Mirren 3-1 at Pittodrie.
The home record is two wins, a draw and three defeats, with five goals scored and five conceded in six games. Aberdeen have kept one clean sheet at Pittodrie, and those seven points are the bulk of their total.
Kevin Nisbet has four league goals and three assists, comfortably the highest return in the squad. Ayoub Mouloua has two, while Molloy, Guinness-Walker and Lyons have one each from a league total of 12.
No fresh injury concerns were reported this week, and Robinson could bring in Cadden, Armstrong and Smith after the Hampden defeat.
The underlying numbers put Aberdeen on 1.4 expected goals for and 1.6 against. Hibs, by the same measure, sit at 1.7 and 1.5, so the side three points below them has had slightly the better of its games.
Seven of Aberdeen’s 12 league goals have come away from home, four of them at Motherwell, and they’ve conceded nine in five away games. The home double chance is 1.44 and the away one 1.53, a narrow split that mirrors 2.40 against 2.63 on the outright result.

Hibernian: no home league win all season, but 2-1-2 on the road
Hibs’ 11 league goals are the fewest in the division, and they’re the only side without a home win. Marink Reedijk, appointed in early October after David Gray’s dismissal in mid-September, still hasn’t changed that at Easter Road.
The league run under him has been narrow. Dundee United won 1-0, Falkirk 2-1 and Celtic 2-1, and the 1-1 draw at St Mirren gave Reedijk his first league point, before the win over Hearts at Hampden. Each of Hibs’ last six league games, starting with 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock, has been decided by one goal or drawn.
Owen Elding has two league goals and one assist, and he’s expected to keep his place up front with Boyle and McGrath behind him. Ivezic and Mayor have one goal each in the numbers available to us.
Reedijk has five players missing: Wright, Lowe, Obita, Megwa and Bushiri. Sallinger stays in goal, with Passlack, Kerr, Ivezic and Mayor in front of him and Newell and Chaiwa in midfield.
Hibs won 2-1 at Pittodrie on 26 October 2025 and 3-1 there on 21 December 2024. Aberdeen still hold the longer record at this ground, with ten wins and four draws from 18 meetings since 2014, including 2-0 on 11 April 2026 and 1-0 on 26 April 2025.
Probable lineup Aberdeen: Muller; Cadden, Happe, Molloy, Guinness-Walker; Lyons, Afeez; Smith, Nisbet, Armstrong; Mouloua
Probable lineup Hibernian: Sallinger; Passlack, Kerr, Ivezic, Mayor; Newell, Chaiwa; McGrath, Mulligan, Boyle; Elding

Our prediction: Hibernian or draw (double chance X2) @ 1.53
Hibs have taken seven of their eight points on the road and arrive from a semi-final win in which they created almost three times Hearts’ expected goals. Aberdeen have lost three straight, and they’ve scored five goals in six home league games.
The case for Aberdeen is the head-to-head record at Pittodrie, a clear injury list and Nisbet. Hibs are bottom for a reason, and a final to prepare for could take something out of them.
We’d still take the double chance at 1.53. Hibs have the better expected-goals figures of the two, and the 1.40 available for under 3.5 goals tells us the market expects the same close game we do. Over 2.5 goals is 1.80, and both teams to score is 1.62.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
