Real Sociedad vs Rayo Vallecano: no league win over Rayo since April 2023
Real Sociedad haven’t beaten Rayo Vallecano in the league since April 2023. The last five league meetings have produced two Rayo wins and three draws, including a 3-3 in Vallecas on 26 April and a 1-0 Rayo win at Anoeta on 5 October 2025.
That run goes to Anoeta again on Sunday 8 November, 15:15 UK time, and it’s the only part of this fixture that favours the visitors. Sociedad are fifth on 19 points, seven clear of Rayo in 12th.
Current form isn’t close. La Real’s last five matches have brought four wins and a draw with 17 goals scored and six conceded, while Rayo have one win, two draws and two defeats from theirs, with five scored and 10 conceded.
Rayo’s away numbers are worse still. Five league trips have produced no wins, two draws and three defeats, with 13 goals let in.
Sociedad’s Europa League game against Lyon on Thursday is the complication. Rotation is likely three days later, and I’d want to see the team sheet before getting too comfortable with the price.
Real Sociedad: 17 goals in five, and a home defence that’s looser than the table says
Seven goals scored and seven conceded in five home league games isn’t the record of a side in fifth. Three wins, a draw and a defeat at Anoeta have been enough, but the bigger scoring has happened elsewhere.
The wider run is what makes them favourites. Seventeen goals in the last five matches is more than three a game, and no opponent in that stretch has beaten them.
Keeping 56% of the same side over the last six matches shows how often the manager has been changing things. I’d expect that to continue after Lyon.
Beitia and Zakharyan are both injury concerns, with reports differing on whether they’ll be ruled out or merely doubtful. Odriozola remains out with a knee problem.
Remiro has started all six recorded meetings with Rayo in this run, and Aramburu the last three, so the back of this side should look familiar.
Sociedad’s overall record in this fixture reads nine wins, nine draws and six defeats from 24 meetings. Their last win was 3-1 in the Copa del Rey on 16 January 2025.

Rayo Vallecano: no away win in five, and Batalla and Felipe gone for months
Batalla has a fractured leg and won’t return before January. Luiz Felipe has a cruciate injury and is out until May, and both are long-term absences for a side already short of points.
Álvaro García is also listed as out until December with a hamstring injury. Óscar Valentín is a doubt with a knee contusion.
Six goals in five away league games is respectable. The 13 conceded in those same matches is the figure that’s kept them winless on the road.
Lejeune has started all six recorded meetings with Sociedad and Ratiu the last four. Ratiu’s status is unclear, with a muscle injury reported and a return also suggested.
Their record here does stand up. They won 2-1 at Anoeta on 18 August 2024 and 1-0 on 5 October 2025, so this ground doesn’t frighten them.
Twelve points leaves Rayo 12th, and they’ve kept 55% of their side across the last six matches.

Free La Liga Prediction: Real Sociedad vs Rayo Vallecano
Our prediction: Real Sociedad to win at odds of 1.85
I’d take Real Sociedad at around 1.85. Four wins and a draw from their last five, against a side with no away win in five, is too wide a gap for a head-to-head run to close.
Rayo’s two wins at Anoeta are the honest objection, and so is the Thursday game against Lyon. Neither of those Rayo sides was missing Batalla, Luiz Felipe and Álvaro García at once.
Thirteen conceded on the road against 17 scored by Sociedad in five matches points one way. I’d expect a 2-0 or a 2-1, with the home side doing most of the attacking.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
