Minnesota Lynx vs Connecticut Sun – WNBA Prediction – July 6, 2026

Minnesota Lynx vs Connecticut Sun : the Sun are stuck in a rough season and head to Minnesota Women's National Basketball Association — Wikipedia

The WNBA leaders host the team sitting bottom of the table in a matchup that looks badly one-sided on paper. Minnesota have been superb this season and are clear favourites against a Connecticut side still struggling, even if there have been a few signs of progress. That said, the spread offered by the bookmakers is worth a second look. The Lynx should win, of course, but the Sun may have enough about them to avoid a heavy beating.

Minnesota have owned the season Minnesota Lynx - Wikipedia

The Lynx sit top of the standings with a 75% win rate. Their record underlines just how consistent they have been since opening night, even if two losses in their last five games suggest they are not entirely untouchable.

Minnesota lean on a very efficient attack. Scoring more than 90 points a game this season, the Lynx have enough answers to trouble anyone in the league. At home, they usually set the pace early and then slowly stretch the gap.

The defence has also been solid overall, giving up just over 80 points per game. Minnesota have found a balance few others can match. The real question is not whether they can beat Connecticut, but whether they can open up a big enough lead to cash such a steep handicap.

Historically, meetings with the Sun have not always turned into a scoring spree for Minnesota. The Lynx have finished below 90.5 points in 30 of their last 32 clashes with Connecticut. That matters when you are weighing up a win by 17 points or more.

Connecticut are showing a few signs of life Sun du Connecticut — Wikipedia

It has been a messy season for the Sun. Connecticut are winning only about one in five and sit bottom for good reason. Scoring fewer than 80 points a game and allowing nearly 87, the problems are obvious at both ends.

There has, though, been a bit more encouragement of late. Half of Connecticut’s wins this season have come in the last two weeks. That does not amount to a full turnaround, but they do at least look more capable of putting up a fight.

Away from home, the Sun have also been involved in games that are usually tighter than you might expect. In seven of their last eight road trips, the combined total stayed under 167 points. Connecticut do not really have the tools to go punch for punch with Minnesota in a fast game, so slowing things down and cutting down possessions is the obvious route.

That approach has already helped the Sun stay inside recent spreads. Connecticut have covered a +18.5 line in seven of their last eight away games. With this number slightly lower, that trend has to matter.

WNBA Prediction : Minnesota Lynx vs Connecticut Sun

Connecticut Sun : +16.5 points handicap (win or lose by 16 points or fewer)

Minnesota should win this, no doubt about it, but a comfortable victory does not automatically mean a 17-point blowout. The handicap gives Connecticut plenty of room, and their recent road form suggests they can keep this respectable.

The pace could also suit this bet. The Sun’s away games are often controlled rather than chaotic, while Minnesota have historically struggled to clear 90 points against this opponent. If Connecticut can slow a few possessions and stay disciplined at the back, this never needs to turn into a runaway.

The Sun are still the weaker side, obviously, but their recent uptick and their habit of covering big away spreads are enough for us to side with them here. Minnesota can win without battering the opposition.

First, a word on our predictions

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is still sport: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it really isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will at some point.
  • The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need for day-to-day living. And above all, do not chase losses. That usually ends badly.
  • A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your life, if it winds you up or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if you need to, speak to a specialist organisation. That is what they are there for.
  • At the end of the day, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
