Luton Town vs Leicester City: a point apart in League One, and neither keeps it tight
Nakhi Wells has six goals in ten appearances this season. One of them came in the first half of Luton’s 2-1 win over Barnsley last time out, with Mads Andersen getting the other.
Jack Wilshere’s side host Leicester City at Kenilworth Road at 12:30 UK time on Saturday 24 October. One point separates them: Luton are 13th on 14, and Leicester are a point better off on 15.
These clubs haven’t met in the league since February 2007, a 1-1 draw in the Championship. The last meeting in any competition was a 4-0 Leicester win in the League Cup in September 2019.
Leicester are one of only two League One sides yet to lose away from home. Russell Martin’s team have won two and drawn three on the road, averaging two goals scored and one conceded per away game.
Luton’s matches have been open too, with 19 scored and 18 conceded in ten league games. Over 2.5 goals is priced at 1.50 and both teams to score at 1.44.
The home win is available at 2.20, the draw at 3.60 and Leicester at 2.90.
Luton Town: Wells is scoring, but every game they’ve trailed has ended in defeat
Luton have lost all four league games in which they conceded first. Those four defeats sit alongside four wins and two draws in their first ten.
At home they’ve lost once, 1-0 to Bradford City. The rest of the Kenilworth Road record is two wins and two draws, with seven scored and five conceded.
Their away results swing hard. They won 4-1 at Wycombe, but lost 2-1 at both Stevenage and MK Dons.
Wilshere is short of bodies. Sverre Sandal, Shayden Morris, Shandon Baptiste and Gideon Kodua are out, and Hakeem Odoffin, forced off late in the first half against Barnsley, is unlikely to play.
Against sides above them in the table, Luton have taken six points from six games. Leicester come in one place and one point above them.
Wells leads the line in the expected set-up, with Walsh screening a back four built around Andersen and Johnston. Luton have kept one clean sheet in ten league games.

Leicester City: unbeaten away, four goals at Bromley, and still losing at home
Leicester won 4-0 at Bromley on Tuesday, with goals from Will Alves, John Lundstram, Luke Thomas and Emil Riis. It was their second straight league win, after a 2-1 home win over Doncaster.
Home has been harder. Oxford won 4-0 at Leicester and Peterborough won 3-1 there, which goes a long way to explaining why Martin’s side are three points off the play-offs rather than in them.
The away record is two wins and three draws: a 4-3 win at Stockport, a 1-1 at Barnsley and Tuesday’s 4-0 among them.
Goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk and Ben Nelson are out long term with ACL injuries, and Jayden Joseph has missed the last six matches. Will Smallbone made his Leicester debut off the bench in midweek and is available.
Martin’s first seven league games brought two wins, three draws and two defeats. The two wins since have produced six goals scored and one conceded.
Riis leads the line in the expected 3-4-2-1, with Baybrooke and Doyle behind him and Souttar in the middle of the back three.
Probable lineup Luton Town: Shea; Jones, Andersen, Johnston, Naismith; Walsh; Mendel-Idowu, Clark, Donley, Palmer; Wells
Probable lineup Leicester City: McCarthy; O’Hora, Souttar, Okoli; Alves, Lundstram, Page, Thomas; Baybrooke, Doyle; Riis

Our prediction: Over 2.5 goals at 1.50
I’d back goals. Luton’s league games have averaged 3.7 goals, Leicester’s away games three, and both sides have scored four in a league game within their last six.
Leicester’s away defence, one goal conceded per game, is what could keep this under. Luton have conceded in nine of their ten league games, though, and Wells has scored in a side that has found the net in nine of ten as well.
Over 2.5 at 1.50 is the pick. A 2-1 either way is the score I’d expect.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
