New York Red Bulls vs Inter Miami: the league’s best attack against a side hanging onto eighth
Inter Miami have scored 70 goals in 30 MLS games this season, 2.4 a game, the best rate in the league. The Red Bulls have 39, level with Seattle for the fewest of any side currently in a playoff position.
They meet at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday 24 October, kick-off 22:30 UK time (5:30pm ET), with four regular-season games left for both clubs.
Michael Bradley’s Red Bulls are eighth in the Eastern Conference, above the playoff line only because they have more wins than Toronto. Toronto beat them 2-0 in New Jersey last time out.
Inter Miami, the reigning MLS Cup champions, are second in the East on 53 points, with 14 wins, 11 draws and five defeats. They’ve won all three league games since the international break, the latest 3-1 at Atlanta with two goals from Lionel Messi.
Miami are unbeaten in their last four meetings with the Red Bulls, and the most recent of them finished 2-2 in April.
Miami are priced at 1.83 to win, the draw at 4.20 and the Red Bulls at 3.30.
New York Red Bulls: three defeats in four and the thinnest attack among the playoff sides
Bradley’s team have lost three of their last four, failing to score in two of them: 3-0 at home to St. Louis City, 2-1 at DC United and 2-0 at home to Toronto. The one win in that spell was 4-1 against San Diego.
Before that, they’d won back-to-back 1-0 games on the road, at Columbus on 13 September and at NYCFC on 19 September.
Julian Hall carries the scoring with 11 goals from 63 shots. He’s second on the MLS Under-22 list, with teammates Adri Mehmeti third and Ronald Donkor 12th.
Emil Forsberg has created 41 chances from midfield. AJ Marcucci is the only absentee, still recovering from a cruciate ligament tear.
A defeat would equal their longest home losing run of 2026, two games, and could drop them below the line. They finished 2025 with 43 points, and three wins from the last four would take them past that total.
They have one useful record to lean on. The Red Bulls are unbeaten against Florida clubs this season, including a 3-2 home win over Orlando City in August.

Inter Miami: three straight wins since the break and 38 goals from Messi and Suárez
Messi has 23 goals in 2,270 minutes and 68 chances created. He’s three matches away from equalling his longest run of direct goal contributions, 17 straight games, set at Barcelona in 2011.
Luis Suárez has 15. Between them, the two have scored 38 of Miami’s 70 league goals.
German Berterame scored for the second game running at Atlanta, and that win ended a four-match winless run away from home in the league.
Miami have scored three or more in six away MLS games this year. Two wins from their last two road games would equal the club record of 11 away wins in a season, set in 2024.
Kily Gonzalez has a list of absentees: Tadeo Allende (knee), Mateo Silvetti (shoulder), Fricio Caicedo (lower body), Yannick Bright (foot) and Israel Boatwright (cruciate ligament).
The weeks before the break were patchier, with 2-2 draws against Nashville and San Diego and a 2-1 defeat at Columbus. Since then it’s been 4-0 against DC United, 2-0 against NYCFC and the win in Atlanta.
Probable lineup New York Red Bulls: Horvath; Nealis, Che, Bazan, Padelford; Donkor, Forsberg, Sofo; Harper, Hall, Cowell
Probable lineup Inter Miami: St. Clair; Lujan, Casemiro, Micael, Reguilón; De Paul, Ayala, Segovia; Messi, Suárez, Berterame

Our prediction: Inter Miami to win at 1.83
I’m with Miami. They’ve won three in a row since the break, they score more than anyone in the league, and they face a side that’s failed to score in two of its last four with the playoff line closing in.
The Red Bulls have the motivation, and they’ve handled Florida sides well this year. That doesn’t make up for a 31-goal gap in attack, or for a home defence that has conceded six in its last three games in New Jersey.
Miami at 1.83 is the pick, and I’d expect Messi to keep his run of goal contributions going.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
