Celta Vigo vs Sevilla – Free Football Prediction and Picks – La Liga – May 23, 2026

Celta Vigo – Sevilla: One last push for Europe at Balaidos Description de l'image Laliga Ea Sports.svg.

It is do-or-die time for the Galicians. Celta Vigo host Sevilla on Saturday night on the final day of the Spanish league season. There is no point dressing it up: the appetite at kickoff will be on one side only. The home club are playing for the payoff to their entire season, with a European place waiting to be secured. The visitors, by contrast, arrive with nothing hanging over them, and nothing left to chase in the table. It sets up a clash of very different moods, and it should make for a lively end to the campaign.

Credit where it is due, Celta Vigo have put together a strong campaign under Claudio Giraldez. Sitting sixth, they hold a healthy three-point cushion over their nearest challengers. A draw would be enough, but Celta want more than that: they want a statement win to celebrate Europa League qualification in front of their own fans. Oddly, though, their home form has been shaky all season, with one of the worst records in the division on their own patch.

The recent draw at Bilbao, after taking the lead, left a bitter taste, and Celta will want to put that right straight away. The coaching staff are banking on the finish in their front line to cut through an opposition defence that has looked soft all year. For Celta, this is the biggest game of the Giraldez era. Expect them to come out firing from the first whistle and try to get Balaidos rocking. They also have the psychological edge after winning the first meeting in Andalusia.

At the other end, Sevilla head into the final stretch in far calmer fashion. The Andalusian club sit a rather plain 13th after a season stuffed with off-field noise and internal mess. Still, a crucial winning run last month finally dragged them clear of danger. With relegation no longer breathing down their necks, Sevilla arrive in Galicia with one aim: finish with some dignity. The recent home defeat to Real Madrid did little to dent the mood in Luis Garcia’s camp.

The big concern for Sevilla is obvious enough: they have been far too easy to score against, shipping 59 goals across the campaign. Away from home, they have also struggled to find the right balance, taking only 18 points on the road. Garcia is expected to use this final game to rotate the squad and hand minutes to some of the younger players. Sevilla’s forwards will look to pounce on the space left by a home side that has to take the game to them. For Sevilla, it is already close to review time, with a messy summer looming behind the scenes.

Football Prediction Celta Vigo vs Sevilla

Both teams to score

This final La Liga clash between Celta Vigo and Sevilla looks wide open and likely to be entertaining. The home side will be on the front foot from the start as they try to secure Europe and celebrate with their supporters, which should leave room at the back. Sevilla, meanwhile, have no fear and no result pressure, a setup that usually lets them play with more freedom going forward. Their defensive wobble, combined with Celta’s long-running problems keeping clean sheets at Balaidos this season, points to a game where both attacks can have their say. The call here is for a messy, goal-filled contest with chances at both ends.

First, a word on our predictions

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We are sharing an opinion, a read on the moment, never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, a tactical tweak, a goal from nowhere… and the whole script changes.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no bet without risk. Even when it looks obvious, nothing really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, at some point, you will.
  • The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all, do not chase losses; it rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking over your day, rattling you, or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support service. That is what it is there for.
  • In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Important reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral quickly (financial losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot use them to claim anything back if a bet loses.

Information can change

A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before placing a bet, check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
