Besiktas vs Genclerbirligi Süper Lig prediction

Besiktas vs Genclerbirligi – Free Football Prediction – Nov 08

Besiktas vs Genclerbirligi: five straight wins for the away side in this fixture, and a perfect home record that says otherwise Süper Lig

The away side has won each of the last five competitive meetings between Besiktas and Genclerbirligi. It’s an odd run for a fixture that Besiktas have dominated over the longer term, with 14 wins to Genclerbirligi’s five and four draws across the 23 meetings on record.

It also cuts against almost everything else in the build-up to Sunday. Besiktas have won all five of their Süper Lig matches at Tupras Stadium this season and are unbeaten there in all competitions, while Genclerbirligi have scored one league goal away from Ankara all season, in a 1-0 win at Goztepe on their first trip.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side are fourth with 19 points from ten games. The visitors are 14th on 11, back in the top flight and still finding their level, and they arrive on the back of their best result of the season: a 5-0 home win over Alanyaspor that ended a seven-game league run without a win.

Besiktas had a harder week. They led twice at Kasimpasa last weekend and were held 2-2, then lost 3-2 at Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday night. That leaves them with seven points from their last five league games and one win from three in Europe.

Kick-off at Tupras Stadium is on Sunday 8 November at 18:00 UK time, with A. Karaoglan refereeing. Besiktas will have had three days to recover from Glasgow, while Genclerbirligi have had no European games to manage.

Besiktas: five home league wins from five, with Vlahovic on seven goals Besiktas

The home record is the foundation of Besiktas’ season. Five league games at Tupras Stadium have brought five wins, and the most recent of them, 2-0 against Istanbul Basaksehir, came straight after a 2-0 defeat at Trabzonspor. Italiano’s side have shown they can respond at home when the previous week has gone badly.

Away from Tupras Stadium the picture is less stable. The draw at Kasimpasa was the clearest example, with Besiktas twice in front and still unable to close the game out, and the 2-0 defeat at Trabzonspor was the other away setback in the last five.

Europe has added to the fatigue. Besiktas drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace, beat Hoffenheim 3-2 and then lost 3-2 at Celtic, so they’ve conceded seven goals in three Europa League matches.

Dusan Vlahovic leads the line with seven league goals, and Leandro Trossard and Vaclav Cerny are expected to support him from the flanks. Orkun Kokcu came back from injury at Celtic Park and scored, so he’s in contention to start alongside Junior Olaitan and Salih Ozcan.

Fabio Miretti is still out with a shoulder problem, Umit Akdag has a broken wrist and Milot Rashica is recovering from a hamstring injury. With a Thursday game behind them, some rotation is likely; Besiktas have kept 56% of their starting eleven from match to match over the last six games.

Genclerbirligi: a 5-0 at home, and 11 conceded without reply on their last three away trips Genclerbirligi

Bernd Storck’s side needed the Alanyaspor result. Before it they had gone seven league games without a win, two draws and five defeats, and the 5-0 followed a 5-0 cup win over Karakopru, so ten goals in two matches have changed the mood around the club.

The away form hasn’t changed with it. Genclerbirligi have lost their last three league games on the road, conceding 11 goals and scoring none, and no side in the division has scored fewer away from home this season.

That single away goal, in the 1-0 at Goztepe on the opening trip, is the number that frames Sunday. Since then every away game has ended in defeat or without a goal, and Sunday’s hosts haven’t dropped a point at home in the league.

The squad is also short at the back. Dimitrios Goutas faces a long spell out with a cruciate ligament injury, Pedro Pereira and Kevin Rodrigues are carrying fitness problems, and Peter Etebo is a doubt with a muscle injury.

Franco Tongya has two league goals and is the visitors’ most direct threat from midfield. Tiago Gouveia and Adama Traore are expected to keep their places after featuring in the win over Alanyaspor, with Mendes leading the line.

Probable lineup Besiktas: Nubel; Murillo, Agbadou, Topcu, Ouattara; Ozcan; Cerny, Kokcu, Olaitan, Trossard; Vlahovic
Probable lineup Genclerbirligi: Egribayat; Celik, Baltaci, Thalisson, Aydar; Niasse; Gouveia, Ulgun, Tongya, Traore; Mendes

Our prediction: Besiktas to win to nil

The five straight away wins in this fixture are the one argument for Genclerbirligi, and I don’t think it survives contact with this season’s numbers. Besiktas have won all five league games at home, and Genclerbirligi have one away goal from their entire campaign.

The 5-0 against Alanyaspor came in Ankara, as did the cup win. On the road the visitors have conceded 11 in three games without scoring, and they now travel without Goutas in central defence.

The risk is fatigue on the Besiktas side after Thursday in Glasgow, which could keep the margin small. A home win with Genclerbirligi kept off the scoresheet is the pick, and we’d expect Vlahovic to be the difference.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
