A substitute decides it
Leeds United beat Tottenham 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday, and the match came down to one substitution. Noah Okafor replaced Lukas Nmecha in the 77th minute and scored in the 79th, the only goal of an afternoon that Tottenham had mostly dominated on possession.
The numbers back that up. Roberto De Zerbi’s side had 61% of the ball and 508 passes to Leeds’ 310, yet each team put four shots on target. Leeds won more duels, 59 to 43, and held on through five minutes of stoppage time to finish the job for Daniel Farke.

Tel hurt, tempers short
Tottenham’s day had already been disrupted before the break. Mathys Tel went off injured in the 43rd minute and Dominic Solanke came on in his place, a forced change for De Zerbi in a match that stayed tight until Okafor struck.
It was also a bookable afternoon. Micky van de Ven was cautioned in the 15th minute, Pedro Porro and De Zerbi himself were booked in the 51st, and Tonali followed late. On the Leeds side, Sean Longstaff and Okafor, who took a yellow card just after scoring, were also shown cards.
