A late flag and a quick touchdown
Green Bay safety Xavier McKinney did not hold back after the Packers dropped a 20-17 decision to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The 28-year-old All-Pro said he is not a fan of the referees right now and called the officiating poor.
His list of grievances: two roughing-the-passer penalties, plus an unnecessary roughness call on defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt for a late hit on receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. That last flag handed Detroit a first down, and the Lions scored a touchdown two plays later.
McKinney said he does not care whether the league fines him, arguing the penalties kept breaking up his team’s drives and momentum.

LaFleur stays quiet, Carolina next
Head coach Matt LaFleur steered clear of the topic. “It is what it is,” he said when asked about the penalties.
The loss ended a three-game winning streak and left Green Bay at 4-3. McKinney was busy on the field, with a season-high 10 tackles. He shares the NFL lead with three interceptions and has 31 tackles and one sack in seven starts. The Packers get a quick turnaround Thursday against the Carolina Panthers (3-3).
