Day-to-day, not done
The unbeaten Minnesota Vikings appear to have avoided a bigger problem. Running back Aaron Jones escaped a significant knee injury and is considered day-to-day, ESPN reported Monday.
Jones aggravated his left knee in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 16-10 home win over the Indianapolis Colts. He took a hit at the end of a 17-yard run, walked to the blue medical tent and did not return, finishing with 26 yards on eight carries. Coach Kevin O’Connell said the knee was evaluated, and Pro Football Talk reported an MRI was planned.

Mason ready if needed
The 31-year-old already sprained his left MCL in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears but has not missed a game. Through six starts he has 436 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, plus 13 catches for 72 yards.
If he cannot go, Jordan Mason is the obvious replacement after leading Minnesota with 15 carries for 68 yards against Indianapolis. The Vikings are 6-0 and travel to Detroit (4-2) next Sunday, a game where depth in the backfield could matter.
