Golf: Uihlein disqualified after no-show at European Q School

He simply never reached the tee

Peter Uihlein is done at the DP World Tour qualifying school. The American was disqualified Friday at Huddersfield Golf Club in West Yorkshire, and the reason leaves nothing to interpret. He did not show up for his third round.

The first two cards had already told a bleak story. A 74, then a 73. Seven over par and sitting 66th in the live standings, per Golfweek. Nineteen spots and ties move on. He was nowhere near, and now the arithmetic no longer matters.

LIV Golf is quietly shoving its players out the door

Context explains more than the scorecard here. The breakaway circuit is in serious financial trouble and nobody can say with confidence what it looks like in a year. Three of its players teed it up at Huddersfield: Uihlein, plus Spaniards Luis Masaveu and Josele Ballester. Same motive for all three, a route into the European Tour if LIV folds.

Uihlein is 37. He signed on with the Saudi-backed league in 2022, one of the earlier names to jump, and has played for RangeGoats GC since. His 2026 was not going badly either, with back-to-back thirds in Riyadh and Adelaide.

The story is bigger than one missed tee time

A player of that pedigree entering Q School at all is the headline. These fields are usually amateurs and journeymen chasing a first card. Three LIV members turning up is not normal.

Uihlein now waits. No European Tour status, and a shrinking list of places to play next season. Masaveu and Ballester are still out there at Huddersfield.
