Two tyres, one win
Ty Gibbs gambled on two tyres. It paid off. In the early hours from Sunday into Monday, the 23-year-old won the Iowa Corn 350 at Newton. It was his second NASCAR Cup Series win in 146 starts.
His team chose to change only two tyres at the final stop. Christopher Bell, his Joe Gibbs Racing team-mate, took four on the pit road with 60 laps to go. Gibbs kept the lead and held on to the chequered flag. He won by 0.253 seconds.

Toyota crushes the field
Bell finished second for the seventh time this season. He has now gone 30 races without a win. “Ty did a really good job,” he admitted, calling it a “bad second place”. Ryan Blaney, who started on pole and was flying in the opening segment, completed the podium. Josh Berry and Denny Hamlin followed.
Gibbs climbs to second in the championship, 103 points behind Hamlin. Toyota has now won 14 of the opening 23 races in 2026. The day was over almost before it began for Tyler Reddick, who came into the race second overall but was out on lap three after contact with the wall.
