A masterclass in Portland
Alex Palou is still on course for a fourth straight IndyCar title. Overnight the Spaniard won the Grand Prix of Portland, his sixth win of the season, crossing the line 4.1167 seconds clear of pole-sitter Felix Rosenqvist after 110 laps at Portland International Raceway.
He had to work for it. After a scrap with Rosenqvist, Josef Newgarden and Will Power, Palou grabbed the lead by passing the Australian on lap 87 and never handed it back, pacing 60 of the 110 laps. “I had a rocket ship today,” said the Chip Ganassi driver, with a nod to Honda and his crew.

A historic milestone is in sight
The bigger story sits in the standings. Palou now leads Kyle Kirkwood by 110 points with five races left. The pressure is draining away by the lap. He is chasing a fifth crown in six years after titles in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Number 25 of his career in the series, this one. Few drivers have bossed the modern era like this. Power, meanwhile, was left to rue a botched pit stop. “I didn’t hear the call,” he admitted. Behind Palou and Rosenqvist, the Australian completed the podium ahead of Rinus VeeKay and Kirkwood.
