Ligue 1: Toulouse seal deal for Denmark youngster Thomas Jorgensen

TFC land their Danish midfielder

Toulouse confirmed the arrival of Thomas Jorgensen on Wednesday, August 19. The 20-year-old Danish midfielder leaves Viborg to join the Violets. The announcement comes a day after defender David Odogu arrived on loan.

The club have described him as a box-to-box player. Left-footed, 1.84 metres tall, able to add quality in possession while breaking lines with his driving runs. Toulouse say they had to beat off “stiff competition” to get the deal done.

Jorgensen also spoke in the club statement. “I am very happy to join TFC, and I can’t wait to make my debut at the Stadium and meet the Toulouse fans.”

The numbers that explain the move

Jorgensen’s 2025-2026 season at Viborg did the talking. Thirty-six starts, 5 goals, 9 assists. Rare numbers for a midfielder of his age in Denmark.

He has not slowed down this summer either. He started all four opening rounds of the new Superligaen season and already has a goal to his name. Toulouse are signing a player who is up to speed, not a gamble built on a highlight reel.

His path follows a familiar route in Denmark. A product of FC Copenhagen, he left the capital club to get regular minutes at Viborg. It paid off.

An international on the rise

Jorgensen has 33 caps across the U18s and U21s, with 6 goals. He has been involved with the senior Denmark squad recently, though his first cap is still to come.

For Toulouse, the move fits a familiar plan: sign young talent from abroad, play them, sell them on. The club have built recent seasons around that model.

Toulouse’s transfer business is not done yet. Dayann Methalie’s move to Sunderland remains on hold, and more activity is expected before the window shuts.
