Sydney Roosters vs Wests Tigers: the Roosters are flying, and Tedesco is back 
The Roosters are top of the NRL. A hard-earned 12-6 win over Penrith last week moved them two points clear of the reigning champs.
It was a result that carried real weight, too, given how often Penrith had had their number in recent seasons. Sydney finally got over the line on the ground that had caused them the most trouble.
The Wests Tigers, meanwhile, sit 14th after a 24-22 defeat to the Dragons. Four tries apiece, one missed conversion, and that was the difference.
Since the thumping they took against the Raiders in round 21, Benji Marshall’s side have steadied the ship. These Tigers have been punching above their weight week after week.
The historical record, though, is brutal. The Roosters have won 18 of the last 20 meetings between the sides. One-sided barely covers it.
There is one small point that leans the other way, and it is worth noting. Wests Tigers have won their last two trips to Allianz Stadium.
With the game scheduled for Sunday, the Roosters also get a better recovery window than most teams in this round. Everything points to a comfortable night for the league leaders.

James Tedesco returns at fullback after missing two matches with an ankle injury. The captain goes straight back into his spot.
Cody Ramsey, who filled in well, drops to the bench. Rex Bassingthwaighte, meanwhile, goes back to the reserves.
Tedesco’s return could hardly be better timed given the opposition. The fullback has scored five tries in his last five games against the Tigers.
On the wing, Billy Smith has five tries in his last four matches at Allianz Stadium. Sydney’s back line is humming.
The Daly Cherry-Evans-Sam Walker halves pairing remains the real weapon in tight games. The 12-6 against Penrith proved it.
Up front, Victor Radley, Spencer Leniu and Naufahu Whyte anchor a pack that put 82 points on the Cowboys earlier in the season. There is still more attack to come from this side.

Wests Tigers: Doueihi out after shoulder surgery, Madden thrown in at the deep end 
Adam Doueihi is off for shoulder surgery and his season is done. That is the blow of the week at Concord.
Jock Madden takes the No 7 shirt and will play his first NRL match since round 18. Taking over the steering wheel against the leaders is some first assignment.
Jarome Luai remains at halfback and will have to shoulder the playmaking almost on his own. That is a big ask against the best defence in the competition.
There is a bit of good news, though: Alex Twal returns at lock after missing the Dragons game with illness. Sione Fainu drops to the bench.
Sunia Turuva, who picked up a knee issue late in last week’s game, starts on the bench. Jeral Skelton comes in on the wing.
Terrell May and Apisai Koroisau are still the two men who can get the Tigers on the front foot. They scored four tries against the Dragons, so they are not short of bite.

Our prediction: Roosters to win with a -12.5 points handicap
Eighteen wins in the last 20 meetings, James Tedesco back with five tries in his last five games against this opponent, and Billy Smith in red-hot form at Allianz Stadium. The gap between these sides is huge.
On the other side, the Tigers are fielding a halfback who has not played since round 18 and they are without Adam Doueihi. Against the best defensive unit in the league, that tends to show up on the scoreboard pretty quickly.
A straight Roosters win does not offer much value with this kind of mismatch. The -12.5 handicap is the play that makes sense: the Roosters should put their foot down, and they have already done it this season with an 82-12 rout of the Cowboys.
