Thirty, and the ball is still climbing
Four hundred and forty-eight feet. That is how far Shohei Ohtani sent a baseball into the thin Denver air on Tuesday night, deep to right-center, with Hunter Feduccia aboard on a third-inning walk. Home run number 30 on the year. His third in two games against Colorado.
Los Angeles won it 7-6. Ryan Feltner wore most of the damage, seven runs on eight hits across a shade over five innings, and the Rockies starter falls to 5-7.

The fourth inning, and three swings that settled it
Early on it was a trade of punches. Max Muncy pushed the Dodgers ahead on a sacrifice fly. Cole Carrigg answered with a double that scored Jake McCarthy. Colorado drew level in the third when TJ Rumfield and Connor Norby doubled back to back.
Then came the fourth. Tommy Edman, Kyle Tucker and Teoscar Hernandez laced three straight doubles and the scoreboard read 5-3 before the Rockies could reset. Freddie Freeman tacked on a sacrifice fly to center. Two innings later Hernandez opened with a triple and came home on a Freeman single.
Hernandez ended the night with a triple and a double. Edman doubled twice. Freeman had two hits of his own.
Willi Castro made them sweat
Colorado never went away, and Castro was the reason. His fifth-inning shot, his 14th of the year, was part of a three-run night at the plate. The Rockies got within 7-5 in the eighth. In the ninth, Castro singled home another and suddenly it was a one-run game with the tying run in scoring position.
Tanner Scott ended it. Handed the closer’s job after Edwin Diaz landed on the injured list, he coaxed a lazy fly ball to short out of Rumfield for save number 17.
One worry lingers in the Dodgers clubhouse. Feduccia exited after recording an out in the bottom of the seventh and the club offered no explanation.
Colorado has now dropped two in a row at home, back from a road trip that finished 5-4.
