Sydney Roosters vs Gold Coast Titans – Free NRL prediction and picks – May 8, 2026

NRL – Roosters vs Titans: are the Titans about to bite back? National Rugby League — Wikipédia

Friday night kicks off in Gosford with a fixture that, on paper, looks lopsided. On one side, a Roosters team building real momentum. On the other, a Titans outfit still struggling to get anything resembling a season together.

But these are exactly the sort of games that can catch you out.

Sydney are piling up points right now… yet they are still leaving gaps. And Gold Coast, for all their obvious flaws, still have enough attacking threat to punish any drop in intensity.

That makes this one look a lot more open than the table suggests.

The Roosters are finally starting to look like a proper contender Sydney Roosters — Wikipédia

The win over Brisbane backed up what plenty were already starting to suspect: the Roosters are finding their groove.

What stood out most was not even the final score, but the way they strangled the game before half-time. Tempo, intensity, attacking variety… for 40 minutes, Brisbane were nowhere.

And this side is beginning to show something it did not always have earlier in the season: fluency.

The Sam Walker – Daly Cherry-Evans partnership is taking shape, Tedesco is back to having serious punch with the ball in hand, and around them the combinations are starting to click.

Of course, it is not all perfect. The second half against the Broncos still had a few messy patches and some moments where they lost emotional control of the contest.

But going forward, this team is now extremely hard to contain.

When the Roosters play fast and win the middle, they create space everywhere.

The Titans keep shooting themselves in the foot Gold Coast Titans - Wikipedia

As for the Titans, the frustration is that the story barely changes from week to week.

There is attacking talent. There are promising passages. Sometimes the numbers with the ball look decent too.

But at the back, it all comes apart sooner or later.

The loss to Canberra exposed the same old issues again: too many errors, too many cheap possessions handed over, and a defence that cannot hold up when the pace rises.

What is worrying now is how easily opponents are breaking through their line. The Titans miss far too many tackles, lose control of territory quickly, and then spend long stretches just surviving.

Against a side like the Roosters, that can get ugly fast.

Sydney are not in the mood to forgive much at the moment.

Even so, the Titans still have enough pace and power in attack to get on the board. That is what makes this total line look so appealing.

This could turn into a shootout quickly

The shape of the game points to points.

The Roosters are playing with plenty of confidence, they accelerate quickly, and they are no longer shy about opening things up when they smell blood.

Gold Coast, meanwhile, remain a side capable of producing a few big attacking sets… but rarely capable of locking things down defensively.

That is usually the perfect recipe for a game to drift into a high-scoring rhythm.

Especially if the Roosters strike first and build a lead.

Because once the Titans are forced to chase, everything gets messier… and usually a lot more open.

NRL prediction Roosters vs Titans

Titans

Titans to score over 17.5 points

Even if the Roosters are the clear favourites, their current profile still leaves chances at the back.

And Gold Coast have enough speed and creativity to exploit a few openings, especially in a game that could heat up quickly.

The Titans are far too unreliable to trust on the result… but in attack, they have enough to help the scoreline along.

A quick word on our picks

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We are sharing an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
  • Let us be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it is never truly certain. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will at some point.
  • The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Above all, do not touch money you need for everyday life. And never chase losses – that usually ends badly.
  • A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking over your day, winding you up or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if you need it, speak to a specialist service. That is what it is there for.
  • In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Important reminder: betting is not allowed for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast (money problems, family strain, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our picks are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot use them to demand anything if a bet does not land.

Information can change

A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes (like the Roosters’ one, for example), a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your responsibility

Before placing a bet, check that betting is legal where you live. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gambling first

We cannot say this enough: gamble in moderation. If you are struggling to keep control, do not wait to get help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on this site.

Legal age

mathodds content is for adults only. By using this site, you confirm that you are old enough under the law to bet.
