Ligue 1: Club Brugge reject Strasbourg’s 15m bid for Romeo Vermant

Fifteen million, and the door stays shut

RC Strasbourg put 15 million euros on the table. Club Brugge said no, and did not bother countering.

Belgian outlets reported the rejection on Sunday. The Alsace club had identified 22-year-old striker Romeo Vermant as the fix for a forward line stripped back over the summer. Brugge decided the money was not close and declined to open talks at all.

The timing helps nobody in Strasbourg. Brugge have banked several sales in recent weeks. There is no financial pressure on them, and therefore no reason to sell a centre-forward cheaply in the last week of a window.

Contracted to 2028, and priced accordingly

Vermant’s deal runs to 2028. In a late-window negotiation, that single fact rewrites everything.

His numbers back the Belgian position. Local media put him at 46 appearances across all competitions last season with 12 goals, four of them in the Champions League. Scoring four times in that competition at 22 is not a profile anyone discounts.

He also happens to be exactly the type BlueCo have been chasing at Strasbourg since the takeover: young, already tested at a decent European level, nowhere near his ceiling.

A Danish plan B, already in motion

Strasbourg moved on quickly. Several reports have them closing in on RB Leipzig forward Conrad Harder, on loan, with a medical reportedly arranged.

Loan, not permanent. On the balance sheet those are two entirely different conversations.

The window shuts in a few days. Diego Moreira is gone and the hole he left is still there. Vermant is off the table. Harder is not. Six months from now Strasbourg will know which of the two they should have pushed harder for.
