A dribbler for Auxerre’s left flank
Four goals in 29 games. That is the headline number on Anass Zaroury’s season in Greece, and it undersells him badly. AJ Auxerre want a winger before the window shuts, and according to ATHLETIQ the Burgundy club have settled on the Panathinaikos man.
A loan is the likeliest route. It works for everyone involved: Athens keep the player on their books, Auxerre take on almost no risk, and Zaroury finally gets minutes he has not been promised in Greece.

Zaroury averaged 62 minutes a match across those 29 appearances, adding two assists to his four goals. Modest output on paper.
The underlying data says something else entirely. Figures from Data’Scout, relayed by Morning Foot, put him near the top of the Greek Super League for successful dribbles and attacking duels won, and among the division’s best for completed crosses and passes into the box. Give him one defender to beat in a tight space and he usually wins.
Then come the running numbers. Top speed, sprint count, sprint distance: bottom of the pile on all three. He is not burning a full-back over 40 metres.
Ligue 1 asks a different question
Auxerre want someone who can invent something out of nothing on the flank. On that count he fits.
Intensity is where it gets awkward. French football demands repeated high-tempo efforts that the Greek league simply does not ask for, and that gap is the entire gamble.
Days left in the window. Auxerre either move now or forget it.
