Seattle Kraken vs New York Rangers: 7-2 at home, 1-5-1 on the road, and no Shesterkin
The Rangers have been two different teams this season. They’re 7-2 at Madison Square Garden and 1-5-1 away from it, and that road record has come with defeats of 7-1 in New Jersey, 7-4 in Ottawa and 5-4 in Toronto.
Understanding Saturday 7 November, 5:00pm ET at Climate Pledge Arena starts there. New York gets on a plane after hosting Philadelphia on Thursday, crosses three time zones and plays an afternoon game in Seattle less than 48 hours later.
Goaltending is the first issue. Igor Shesterkin needs surgery and a long rehab on a season-ending right knee injury, and Joonas Korpisalo is on injured reserve as well. Dylan Garand has been handed the net, and he made 32 saves on 33 shots in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over St. Louis, a result that ended a four-game losing streak.
Seattle sits at 8-5-1 with 17 points, and its record has held up better than its goal difference, which stands at 52 for and 52 against. The Kraken are 4-2-0 at home and went 6-3-1 in their last 10, despite losing Jared McCann to a lower-body injury that’s expected to cost him about 10 weeks.
Seattle plays Calgary on Wednesday night before this one, and that result will tell us plenty, since the Flames beat the Kraken 6-2 on 30 October. Even so, two days off at home against a Rangers team on a cross-country trip is a clear scheduling edge.
Seattle Kraken: seven goals from Gaudreau, and a team scoring from everywhere
Seattle’s point totals are unusually flat, and that’s a strength here. Chandler Stephenson leads with 12 points, Kaapo Kakko and Berkly Catton have 11, and four players are on 10. The scoring doesn’t rely on one line, so a team preparing to shut down a top unit has a harder job.
Frederick Gaudreau has seven goals in 14 games, the team high, and Mackie Samoskevich has six in 13. Neither is the name opposing coaches circle first, and Catton, with four goals and seven assists, has given the middle of the lineup another option.
The defensemen are contributing as well. Brandon Montour has three goals and seven assists, and Vince Dunn has nine points. That’s part of why Seattle has been able to survive McCann’s absence, since he had just eight points in 11 games when he went down.
Consistency is the concern. The home record includes a 5-3 win over Utah and a 5-4 win over Toronto, but also a 5-1 loss to Minnesota. Seattle has conceded five or more three times since mid-October, so it can’t count on a shutdown night in front of its own crowd.
Ryan Lindgren, Jake O’Brien and Jacob Melanson remain on injured reserve, with Lindgren estimated to return around 19 November. Curtis Douglas was day-to-day this week. None of those absences changes the top of the lineup, which has stayed largely intact apart from McCann.

New York Rangers: Fox’s 16 assists and a road form that won’t improve easily
Adam Fox remains the engine. He had one goal and 16 assists through his first 14 games, then scored and added another assist against St. Louis on Tuesday.
Alexis Lafreniere had nine goals over the same 14 games, the team high. Mika Zibanejad, J.T. Miller and Tye Kartye are all around 10 or 11 points, and Eeli Tolvanen and Oliver Bjorkstrand both scored against the Blues.
Garand is the player this game turns on. His 32 saves earned him first star on Tuesday and he nearly had a shutout until Pius Suter scored with 59 seconds left. The Blues went 0-for-6 on the power play, and that kind of performance would have to repeat on the road, where New York has allowed five or more in three of its losses.
Korpisalo’s estimated return is around 9 November, so he isn’t expected to be an option on Saturday. Sean Durzi has been out on defense with a possible return around Thursday, and Joe Veleno is on long-term injured reserve.
The 3-1 win took New York to 8-7-1, and the Rangers have won seven games when leading after the first period. Their own power play went 0-for-3 that night, so the even-strength defense did the work.
The Rangers do have a record of tight defensive games, with nine this season allowing two or fewer. The counterpoint is their offense away from home: a 1-0 overtime loss in Columbus, one goal in New Jersey, and just one road win in seven tries.

Our prediction: Seattle Kraken to win
No lines were available when we filed, and I’d take the Kraken outright. New York has one road win in seven, it’s playing with its third-choice goaltender, and this trip comes on one day of rest after a home game with Philadelphia.
Garand’s form and Fox’s passing are the honest case against us. The Rangers won’t be an easy out if Garand gets hot again, and Seattle’s own goal difference of zero suggests a team that’s closer to average than its record implies.
Seattle’s edge is the schedule and the spread of its scoring. With two days off and a 4-2-0 home record, the Kraken can roll four lines against a tired road team, and New York has allowed five or more in three of its last four road games.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
