Roma vs Sassuolo: seven conceded in three league games, and Svilar still working back
Mile Svilar has spent weeks recovering from a foot fracture, and Roma’s recent results show why his return matters to them. In the three league games before this one they’ve conceded seven goals, after letting in just three in their first seven Serie A matches.
Those three games still produced seven points. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side drew 3-3 at Napoli, beat Cagliari 4-2 and won 5-2 at Udinese, which is why they remain unbeaten and third on 24 points, four behind leaders Lazio.
Sassuolo visit the Olimpico on Saturday 7 November, with kick-off at 19:45 UK time, on a very different run. They’ve lost four in a row since a 1-1 draw with AC Milan on 11 October and have dropped to 17th with eight points.
Both teams have been involved in high-scoring games lately, and that shapes how I read this one. Sassuolo’s four defeats contain 22 goals in total, and Roma’s last three league matches contain 19.
Roma were at Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday night, so they’ll have had a long trip and a four-day turnaround before this game. Market prices have them at around 1.30, which leaves more value elsewhere.
Roma: 28 goals in ten league games, with Malen on eight
The attack has done most of the work in this unbeaten run. Roma have scored 28 in ten league games, and Malen has eight of them, with Dybala supplying four assists before his calf injury.
The Olimpico has been a reliable base, with four wins and one draw from five home league games, and a goal record of 14-5. Five conceded in five home games is one a match, and it’s a rate Sassuolo’s forwards can work with.
Gasperini’s defensive issues come largely from absences. Svilar’s foot fracture has kept him out for weeks, with the Sassuolo game named as his target, and he was due scans to confirm the bone had healed.
Manu Kone has been out with a muscle problem picked up against Real Madrid and is also aiming for this game. Dybala’s calf tear from the same 4-3 defeat is reported to have healed, though he still felt discomfort at the end of October, and Saturday looked the most likely date for him too.
So three of the players Roma have missed could return here, but none of them is certain to start, and a short turnaround after Old Trafford won’t help anyone coming back from injury.
Roma’s last league clean sheet came in a 2-0 win over Genoa, and Napoli, Cagliari and Udinese have all scored at least twice since. Real Madrid also put four past them in Rome in the Champions League, so opponents of very different levels have found a way through in recent weeks.

Sassuolo: 16 conceded in four defeats, but still scoring
The four straight defeats read 2-4 at Frosinone, 0-2 at Como, 2-6 at home to Lazio and 2-4 at home to Fiorentina. Laurienté scored twice in the last of those, and it wasn’t enough to take a point.
Sassuolo’s goal difference is now -10, and the defence has given up an average of 2.2 goals a game. The absences explain a lot of that: Leysen and Cande are both missing with serious knee injuries, while Ismael Kone and Boloca have also been out in recent weeks.
The side’s attacking output hasn’t collapsed in the same way. They’ve scored in three of the four defeats, they average 1.4 a game across the season, and Adzic leads the scoring on three with Laurienté on two.
Away from home they’ve lost their last three league games. Even so, they scored twice at Frosinone, who sit sixth on 20 points.
The recent head-to-head favours Roma heavily, with four straight league wins and three clean sheets in a row, including 2-0 in January and 1-0 in Sassuolo in October 2025. Over a longer stretch, however, Sassuolo have scored 14 goals in 11 league visits to Roma since 2014, and they won one of those games.
Sassuolo’s 14 league goals are exactly half of Roma’s 28, and Malen alone has more than double Adzic’s total. Eight points from ten games also leaves them on the same mark as Parma, 15th, so the table offers them little comfort heading to Rome.

Free Serie A Prediction: Roma vs Sassuolo
Our prediction: Both teams to score at odds of 1.62
Roma should win this, but the price on them is short and the better read is at both ends of the pitch. They’ve conceded seven in three league games, they may yet be without Svilar, and they’re coming off a trip to Manchester on Tuesday, while Sassuolo have scored in three of their last four despite losing them all.
The recent record between the clubs is the one thing that argues against this pick, because Roma have kept three straight league clean sheets against Sassuolo. I give that less weight than the last three league games, in which Napoli, Cagliari and Udinese all scored at least twice against them.
Over 2.5 goals at 1.36 is too short and Roma to win to nil at 2.63 runs against those same three results. Both teams to score at 1.62 is the cleanest way to back a match I expect to finish 3-1.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
