Real Betis vs Barcelona: third hosts first, and the leaders haven’t dropped a point
Ten games, ten wins. Barcelona haven’t dropped a single point in any competition this season, and they’ve scored 34 times in eight La Liga matches. Saturday’s trip to Seville to face Real Betis (18:30 Paris time, Estadio La Cartuja) is about as tough a test as the league can offer them right now.
Betis deserve that billing. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are third on 19 points, five behind the leaders, with six wins, one draw and one defeat. They’ve beaten Real Madrid 1-0, won at Villarreal and put five past Osasuna last weekend.
Their only league loss came back in August, a 5-2 defeat at Levante. Since then they’ve won five and drawn one of their last six in all competitions, including a 3-2 win over Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The history gives Barcelona some comfort. They beat Betis twice in the league last season, including a wild 5-3 win in Seville in December 2025, and they haven’t lost away to Betis since January 2011. Oddly, their last two defeats to this opponent both came at home.
Then there’s the calendar. Barcelona travel to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League next week, then host Real Madrid in El Clasico the following weekend. Does Hansi Flick rotate here? A little, probably. But not enough to change the overall picture.
The gap between these two sides isn’t just in the table: it shows up in every attacking number. Betis are good. Barcelona, at the moment, are on another level.
Real Betis: five wins from six and a home side that has already beaten Real Madrid
A 5-2 win over Osasuna, then a 3-2 victory over Porto. Betis are scoring freely and playing with real confidence, and Pellegrini has turned them into one of the more watchable sides in Europe this autumn.
The home form is the foundation. Wins over Real Madrid (1-0), Getafe (1-0) and Osasuna (5-2) show a team that can grind out results or open up depending on what the game needs. That flexibility is rare.
The squad is in good shape too. Junior Firpo (groin) and Aitor Ruibal (knee) are the only absentees, which leaves Pellegrini with most of his options for the visit of the leaders.
Some changes are expected from midweek. Cucho Hernandez should return up front in place of Troy Parrott, Pablo Fornals comes back into midfield, and Rodrigo Riquelme is likely to start on the right, which could push Antony to the bench.
Isco remains the creative heartbeat. With Abde Ezzalzouli’s pace on the other side, Betis have the tools to hurt a Barcelona defence that pushes very high.
The concern is the back line. They’ve conceded twice to Porto, twice to Osasuna and five times at Levante. Against a side averaging more than four goals per league game, that’s a worry they can’t hide from.

Barcelona: 34 league goals in eight games and not a single point dropped
Here’s the key thing about this Barcelona team: they don’t just win, they overwhelm. Valencia lost 5-0, Racing de Santander were beaten 7-2, Rayo Vallecano went down 5-2. Even Sevilla, away from home, were dispatched 3-1.
The 4-1 in Istanbul against Galatasaray on Wednesday kept the run going. It was the tenth straight win to open the season, and Lamine Yamal was named UEFA’s player of the match.
Defensively, they’re not watertight. Levante scored twice, Rayo twice, Racing twice. But when you score as many as this side does, conceding the odd goal barely matters.
The team news is mostly positive. Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong are back in training and likely to be involved from the bench. Gabriel Jesus or Dani Olmo, who played as a false nine in Istanbul, could start through the middle. Eric Garcia picked up a cut to his knee but is available, and Xavi Espart is an option at left-back.
Roony Bardghji (knee) and Andreas Christensen (thigh) are the two confirmed absentees. Neither changes the shape of the side much.
Can Betis really stop this? They’ll make it hard. But Barcelona have answered every question asked of them so far.
Probable lineup Real Betis: Valles; Bellerin, Llorente, Natan, Garcia; Fornals, Roca; Riquelme, Isco, Ezzalzouli; Hernandez
Probable lineup Barcelona: J. Garcia; E. Garcia, Cubarsi, Martin, Espart; Fermin, Rodri, Pedri; Yamal, G. Jesus, Gordon

Our prediction: Barcelona to win @ 1.51
Ten wins from ten and an unbeaten away record at Betis going back to 2011. Barcelona’s form isn’t just good, it’s relentless, and it comes from a squad that keeps scoring even when rotated.
Betis will score, and they’ll make this uncomfortable for spells. But their defence has leaked two or more goals in four separate games this season, and Barcelona’s attack is the best they’ll face all year.
We respect what Pellegrini has built. Still, the numbers point one way, and we’re backing the leaders to make it eleven straight.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses, that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
