A kicking carousel gets another spin
The Rams have gone through kickers at a rapid pace, and Wednesday brought another move. Los Angeles signed Joshua Karty to the practice squad as a fallback option, even though the team is expected to stick with Brandon McManus as its starter.
The path here has been messy. Harrison Mevis was released October 13. Blake Grupe then suffered a season-ending knee injury in his team debut in Week 6. McManus has since stabilized things: he made all five extra-point tries in last week’s 35-21 win over the Raiders, though he did not attempt a field goal.

Karty’s numbers, and a familiar face at long snapper
Karty is a 2024 sixth-round pick out of Stanford. As a rookie he hit 29 of 34 field goals (85.3 percent) and 32 of 36 extra points. His second season went the other way: 10 of 15 on field goals (66.7 percent) and 23 of 26 on extras through eight games before he was waived in 2025.
Long snapper Jake McQuaide, 28, also rejoined the practice squad. He has spent 11 of his 15 NFL seasons with the club. Linebacker Jon Rhattigan was added to the practice squad as well. Offensive lineman Austin Blaske, cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean and linebacker Elias Neal were released. The Rams, 3-4, host the winless Chargers (0-6) on Sunday.
