One hundred and fifteen minutes
That is the full damage from an entire season: six appearances, one start, 115 minutes on the pitch. Paul Pogba and AS Monaco agreed to terminate his contract on Wednesday morning in a joint statement.
The deal was due to run until June 2027. Instead it ends before the first official match of the new season.
The club chose its words carefully. “Sharing the view that the initial targets set had been only partly achieved,” wrote ASM, while praising the 2018 World Cup winner for his “extreme professionalism” throughout his spell.

A comeback that never got going
Cast your mind back to the summer of 2025. Pogba arrived on the Rock after two years without playing, a ban served and a body in need of rebuilding. The move made noise well beyond Ligue 1.
Then the injuries took over. One after another. He is still out now, nursing a left thigh problem.
The player thanked the club in the same statement. “I would like to thank the President and the board, my teammates, all the staff and every supporter who believed in me. Representing this Club and the Principality has been an incredible experience.” He signed off in Monegasque: “Daghe Munegu.”
What happens now?
Pogba is 33. He is a free agent. Two markets have been watching him closely for months: MLS, which has snapped up plenty of Europe’s big names at the back end of their careers, and Saudi Arabia, which pays far more.
That still leaves the question no statement can answer. Can a player who has not strung three games together in years build something somewhere else, or was the Monaco chapter the last serious swing at it?
Monaco, meanwhile, clear a significant wage off the books with eleven days left in the transfer window.
