Partizan Belgrade vs Getafe: two goals down and a club in chaos 
Getafe won the first leg of this Conference League playoff 3-1 at the Coliseum on 20 August. Enes Unal struck early in the ninth minute, Demba Seck levelled for Partizan, then Andres Garcia and Johan Mojica finished the job late on.
The return leg is set for Thursday 27 August at Stadion Partizana, with kick-off at 21:00 local time in Serbia. The Belgrade side need a two-goal win to force extra time, or three to go through outright.
The sporting picture is not exactly encouraging. Partizan sit 12th in the SuperLiga after five rounds, with one win, four points, seven goals scored and nine conceded.
As if that was not enough, the club is going through a surreal boardroom mess. Saša Ilić walked out straight after the 3-1 loss to Mladost Lucani, before changing his mind and staying on as caretaker for this tie.
Soon after, the entire board is due to clear out once the final whistle goes.
Getafe, by contrast, arrive in good shape after claiming their first La Liga win of the season against Racing Santander.
It is a welcome return to the spotlight for the Madrid side, who had not been back in Europe since their 2019-20 Europa League run, ended by Inter in the last 16.
Partizan Belgrade: Europe has been the bright spot 
Partizan had won four of their five Conference League matches before welcoming Getafe. That qualifying run is the only thing keeping their start to the season from looking grim.
The league table tells the opposite story. One win in five and 12th place show a side that cannot string anything together.
The numbers in SuperLiga – seven goals scored and nine conceded – point to a team that can make chances but cannot defend them. Repeat that kind of imbalance on Thursday and they will hand a dangerous Spanish side all the space it wants on the break.
Partizan are now three matches without a win in all competitions. Saša Ilic’s expected departure means this will be his last night in the dugout, whatever happens.
A change in goal is expected for Partizan, with Milos Krunic set to come in for Marko Milosevic. Igor Miladinovic, Ognjen Ugresic and Milan Aleksi? will work the middle, Chaka Traore should operate wide and Erik Kojzek is likely to lead the line.

Getafe: Bordalas’ block built to protect a two-goal cushion 
Getafe only need to avoid defeat to book their place in the European league phase. Jose Bordalas has exactly the sort of side for a job like this.
The first leg was managed in that style too: an early goal from Unal, a reply conceded, then two late strikes from Garcia and Mojica to shut the door. The tempo rarely slipped away from the Madrid side.
Their La Liga start has also been moving in the right direction, with an opening defeat to Alaves wiped out by victory over Racing Santander. That gives them some momentum heading into Belgrade.
The injury list is still a problem. Christantus Uche is out for the long haul after suffering an ACL injury in a pre-season friendly against Monaco, and Juanmi is not expected back until November.
David Soria will be in goal and Unal, who has scored in his last two outings, will lead the attack. Francho Serrano, who made his La Liga debut against Racing Santander, should be involved again in midfield.

Getafe are set up to avoid defeat, and Bordalas always builds these qualification jobs on control rather than flair. The first leg showed that clearly, with the game locked at 1-1 for long spells before the late breakthrough.
Partizan, meanwhile, have scored only seven times in five SuperLiga matches and are on a three-game winless run, with the manager and board both preparing to move on. Finding two or three goals against this Spanish block looks like a stretch that neither the form nor the numbers back up.
This one looks set to stay below the 2.5-goal line.
