Monza vs Atalanta: six straight meetings to Atalanta, and nine men missing for the seventh Serie A

Atalanta have won all six of their Serie A meetings with Monza. The last came at the same ground on 4 May 2025, a 4-0 away win, and Monza have scored three goals in those six games while conceding 18.

None of that history comes from this season, and very little of it applies to Sunday 8 November, 14:00 UK time at the U-Power Stadium. Atalanta are 13th on 11 points after 10 games, five places and four points above the 18th-placed hosts, and they’ve got nine players listed as injured.

Both defences have become the story of the autumn. In their last five league games Monza have conceded 12 and scored nine. Atalanta have conceded 13 and scored 11, including a 4-4 home draw with Frosinone on 25 October.

Every one of those 10 games has finished with at least three goals. Monza’s five produced 21 goals between the sides, and Atalanta’s five produced 24.

The bookmakers are split between a slight Atalanta lean and a very open game. Atalanta are around 2.00 to 2.10, Monza 3.20 to 3.50, the draw 3.60. Over 2.5 goals is 1.57 and both teams to score 1.50, prices that assume the same pattern.

We think those totals markets are the better read of this game than any attempt to split the sides.

Monza: nine goals in five, and two home wins from four Monza

Monza’s only win in the last five came on 19 October, when they beat Cagliari 4-0 at home. Four defeats surround it: 3-1 at Lazio, 3-2 at Torino, 4-1 at home to Napoli and 2-1 at Bologna on 31 October.

They’ve scored in all five, and they’ve scored 17 in 10 league games this season, one more than Atalanta. That’s a healthy return for a side 18th in the table, and the 24 conceded explains the position.

The home record is two wins and two defeats from four league games, with nine scored and eight conceded. Those four games have produced 17 goals, more than four a game.

Three players are listed out: defenders Maye and Ziolkowski and midfielder Pessina. With two defenders missing from a side that has one clean sheet in its last five, we don’t see another here. Monza have kept one against sides above them in the table this season.

Monza have taken seven points from 10 games, with only two wins and one draw. A win would lift them to 10 points, one behind Atalanta.

Atalanta: no away win in four, and nine players listed out Atalanta

Atalanta’s away record this season is no wins from four, one draw and three defeats. Their last five away matches in all competitions brought no wins, two draws and three defeats, with six scored and 10 conceded.

The recent results at home have been worse. Parma won 3-0 in Bergamo on 2 November, four days after a 2-2 draw at Fiorentina and eight days after the 4-4 with Frosinone. Milan had beaten them 3-2 on 18 October.

The injury list is long enough to change how the side plays. Hien, Kolasinac, Kossounou, Kristensen and Bellanova are all out in defence, which accounts for five players in that part of the pitch alone.

Further forward, Kessie and Gaetano are missing from midfield and Scamacca and Raspadori from the attack. Atalanta’s 16 league goals have come from a squad that now can’t call on either of those two strikers.

They also played in the Conference League three days before this game, drawing 1-1 with Kairat Almaty. That leaves a short turnaround for a depleted group, and Atalanta lost 2-0 at Ajax in Europe earlier in the autumn.

De Ketelaere and Ederson started all four of the recent meetings on record, and neither is on the injury list.

Free Serie A Prediction: Monza vs Atalanta

Our prediction: Over 2.5 goals (around 1.57)

All 10 of the two sides’ most recent league games went over 2.5 goals, with Monza’s five averaging 4.2 and Atalanta’s 4.8. Monza’s home games this season average more than four, and Atalanta have five defenders missing.

The obvious risk is a tired, depleted Atalanta side sitting in, and the head-to-head has produced low scores for Monza. We don’t give that much weight, since all six meetings came before this season and Monza have scored in every one of their last five league games.

We’d avoid the match result altogether. Prices of 2.10 on Atalanta and 3.40 on Monza don’t look wrong either way, and over 2.5 at 1.57 sits on the strongest trend either side has shown this autumn.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
