Los Angeles Kings vs Ottawa Senators: Ottawa’s first game in California without Linus Ullmark
Linus Ullmark was 7-1-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average and a .945 save percentage when Ottawa placed him on injured reserve on 22 October with a lower-body injury. In the three games since, the Senators have allowed 14 goals.
That stretch reads 6-2 loss to San Jose, 7-4 win over the Rangers, 4-1 loss at Vegas on Tuesday. Ottawa outshot the Sharks 43-26 and still lost by four.
The Senators are 8-5-0 and third in the Atlantic, and Thursday 29 October at 10:00pm ET opens a California swing that continues in San Jose on Saturday and Anaheim on Sunday. They’re 3-3-0 on the road.
Los Angeles is 3-6-2 and seventh in the Pacific, and the Kings haven’t won at home yet. They’re 0-3-0 in their own building, with losses to Florida (2-1), Edmonton (4-1) and Boston (4-1), and they return from a five-game road trip that finished with a 2-1 loss in Chicago on Tuesday.
The prices are close to even: Ottawa 1.91, Los Angeles 1.98, with the total at 6.0. The Kings have won eight of the last ten meetings, including 2-1 and 1-0 decisions in November 2025.
Los Angeles Kings: three road wins after an 0-4-2 start, but no home win and a long injury list
The Kings opened the season 0-4-2. Then the road trip turned it around: a 5-2 win in Washington on 20 October, a 3-2 overtime win at the Islanders, a 3-1 loss in New Jersey and a 6-3 win at the Rangers on Monday.
That Rangers game showed what this roster can do when it gets going. Los Angeles scored three times in the first period and led 5-1 early in the second, with Drew Doughty collecting three points and Artemi Panarin scoring his seventh goal of the season.
The home record has a clear cause for the Kings. In three games at home the Kings have scored three goals, and Edmonton won 4-1 despite being outshot 40-16. Over their last ten games Los Angeles has averaged 2.4 goals for and 2.9 against.
The injury list is long. Mats Zuccarello is on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, Kevin Fiala is out with a leg injury and Alex Turcotte has been on injured reserve since 9 October. Doughty and Corey Perry were both day-to-day and sat out Tuesday’s game in Chicago.
Betting the Kings hasn’t paid this season either: they’re 4-7-0 against the spread, and only three of their last ten games went over. Their games stay low-scoring, which suits a team that can’t afford to trade chances.
Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves against the Rangers on Monday, and Anton Forsberg is the other option. Both teams had Wednesday off, and neither starter had been confirmed when we wrote this.

Ottawa Senators: Stutzle’s 16 points against a .835 save percentage behind him
Tim Stutzle leads Ottawa with eight goals and eight assists, two of the goals on the power play, and he’s scoring on roughly a third of his 24 shots. Drake Batherson has seven goals and five assists, Claude Giroux eight points and Shane Pinto seven.
The power play hasn’t helped them much. It converts 11.5% of its chances, and the penalty kill sits at 79.1%. Through 12 games, before Tuesday’s loss in Vegas, Ottawa had scored 36 and allowed 34.
Samuel Ersson has taken over the crease with a 4.59 goals-against average and an .835 save percentage, with Jonas Johansson as the backup. The gap between Ersson and Ullmark’s .945 is more than a hundred points of save percentage.
The skater group is also thinner than it was. William Eklund has an ankle injury expected to keep him out for 10 to 12 weeks. Warren Foegele is day-to-day with a right knee injury after a hit from Jeremy Lauzon on Tuesday, and Thomas Chabot is day-to-day but practised fully on 26 October.
Before the injury, Ottawa’s October wins were tight and low-scoring: 2-1 over Philadelphia, a shootout win over Nashville, 4-1 in New Jersey and 5-1 over Florida. The 7-4 win over the Rangers is the only one since, and it needed seven goals.
The market has been slow to adjust. Ottawa is 4-9-0 against the spread this season, and four of its last ten games went over the total.
Probable lineup Los Angeles Kings: Kuemper or Forsberg (G); Panarin, Byfield (day-to-day), Doughty (day-to-day), Perry (day-to-day). Full lineup not announced at time of publication
Probable lineup Ottawa Senators: Ersson (G); Stutzle, Batherson, Giroux, Pinto, Amadio; Chabot (day-to-day). Full lineup not announced at time of publication

Our prediction: Los Angeles Kings to win (moneyline) at 1.98
We’re backing the Kings at close to even money because the goaltending matchup has flipped since Ullmark went down. Ottawa has allowed 14 goals in the three games since, and Ersson’s .835 save percentage is the weakest number in this game.
The 0-3-0 home record goes against us, and we won’t pretend otherwise. But the Kings have won three of their last five on the road against Washington, the Islanders and the Rangers, and they’ve beaten Ottawa in eight of the last ten meetings.
Rest is level, with both teams idle on Wednesday, but Ottawa’s California trip runs three games in four nights and this is the first of them. At 1.98, we’d take the home team.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
