Goztepe vs Caykur Rizespor: the bottom side in the league against the team that only wins away from home 
Goztepe host Rizespor, who have won all three of their away games this season and lost both matches at home. That stark split between home and away form sets the tone for matchday six in the Süper Lig.
The visitors head to the Goztepe Gursel Aksel Stadyumu in Izmir on Sunday, 20 September, at 19:00. They face the Turkish league’s basement side, still searching for a first win after five rounds.
Goztepe have two points, compared with nine for their opponents. So there is already a seven-point gap between 18th and sixth, and that is a fair old hole to be looking at this early in the season.
The attacking numbers tell a different story, though. Goztepe have scored nine goals in five league games, while Rizespor have managed five over the same run.
The real issue for the hosts is at the back: 13 goals conceded, the worst defensive record in the top half of the Turkish table. Rizespor have let in just four.
The head-to-head record muddies the waters even further, with Goztepe winning three of the last four meetings, including both clashes last season. That is the one part of this fixture that cuts against the league table.
One more detail: Rizespor have failed to score in both of their home games, but have found the net five times in three away trips. Recep Ucar’s side look like two different teams depending on where they play.

Stanimir Stoilov ended Goztepe’s run of three straight defeats last week. The 2-2 draw at Alanyaspor snapped losses against Genclerbirligi, Galatasaray and Gaziantep.
They had to come from behind twice to get the point. Rhaldney levelled it first, then Juan converted a penalty after the break to restore parity.
The attacking side of things is not the problem. Nine goals in five league matches is better than most of the division, with only four clubs scoring more.
The imbalance is at centre-back, with 13 conceded, including four against Gaziantep and three against Galatasaray. The comparison with last season is painful, with the club posting 16 clean sheets then, the best mark in the Süper Lig.
A lot of that comes down to the treatment room. Allan Godoi, Noah Sonko Sundberg, Furkan Bayir, Gokdeniz Bayrakdar and Ibrahim Sabra are all out, while Ogun Bayrak is suspended after his red card against Gaziantep.
Up front, Stoilov still has his familiar shape, with Alexis Antunes, who set up a goal at Alanyaspor, backing Juan and Janderson. Goztepe will be leaning on that attacking line to chase a first win, against a side they have beaten three times in the last four meetings.
Two points from five games leaves Goztepe bottom, a grim contrast to last season. Back then, they built their success on defensive steel. That has been ripped apart by injuries and absences.

Caykur Rizespor: nine points, all of them earned on the road 
Rizespor have picked up every one of their points away from home. Konyaspor, Gaziantep and Eyupspor have all been beaten on their own turf, giving them nine in total.
Their two home games have both ended in defeat, 0-2 against Samsunspor and 0-1 against Alanyaspor. They have not scored at home this season.
Their last away trip summed up the formula: a controlled 2-0 win at Eyupspor, opened by Ali Sowe and sealed by Emrecan Bulut in stoppage time. Five goals scored and four conceded across five matches points to a side that does just enough.
That defensive return of four goals is still their strongest card heading into this trip. Against a team that has scored in four of its five league games, it will be tested properly.
But Izmir has not been kind to them in recent seasons. Rizespor have won only one of their last six top-flight visits to this ground and are on a two-game losing streak here.
Recep Ucar will also be without Valentin Mihaila, sent off just before half-time against Eyupspor and now suspended. Khusniddin Alikulov remains out after a cruciate ligament injury, while Emrecan Bulut, who scored off the bench last week, looks the likeliest stand-in.
Nine points from a possible 15 is a decent return for a club of this size. The catch is that it has all come away from Rize, and that sort of streak does not go on forever.

Goztepe have conceded in every one of their five league games, and the long list of defensive absentees offers little reason to expect a clean sheet on Sunday. With five possible starters missing at the back, there will be space to attack.
Rizespor, meanwhile, have scored in all three of their away games, including the 2-0 win at Eyupspor last week. At the other end, Stoilov’s side have found the net in four of five matches, with a total of nine goals that puts them among the sharper attacking teams in Turkey. Goztepe can score.
Both sides should get chances at the Gursel Aksel. The bet is on both teams to score.
