Getafe vs Sevilla – Free La Liga Prediction

Getafe vs Sevilla: nine goals conceded in a week and Bordalas talking about rock bottom La Liga

“We’ve hit rock bottom and we have to change quickly.” That was Jose Bordalas after Getafe lost 4-0 at San Mamés on Sunday, three days after a 5-2 home defeat to Lugano in the Conference League. Sevilla are the next visitors to the Coliseum, on Sunday 1 November with kick-off at 13:00 UK time.

The Lugano game started the trouble. Getafe were 3-1 down after 26 minutes, and Bordalas said afterwards that promises made to him “year after year” hadn’t been kept and that his squad wasn’t good enough for three competitions, “not even one”. After the defeat in Bilbao, captain David Soria described his own team as “anticompetitivo”.

The table backs up the mood. Getafe are 17th with nine points from ten games, and they’ve lost three of their last five league matches without scoring in any of them: 1-0 at Real Betis, 3-0 at Barcelona and 4-0 at Athletic.

Sevilla arrive sixth on 17 points, with five wins, two draws and three defeats. They beat Osasuna 2-0 at the Sanchez-Pizjuan on Monday, with Isaac Romero and Felix Correia scoring and Youssouf Fofana setting up both.

The recent meetings lean towards the visitors too. Sevilla won 1-0 at the Coliseum in February through a Djibril Sow goal, and Getafe have won one of the last five between the clubs. The prices are Getafe 3.10, draw 3.00 and Sevilla 2.35, and I’d take the away side.

Getafe: unbeaten at home in the league, but without Mojica and Mario Martin Getafe

One part of Getafe’s season still works. They’re unbeaten in five league games at the Coliseum, with two wins and three draws, and they’ve conceded only three goals there. Malaga were beaten 1-0 in September and Rayo Vallecano left with a 1-1 draw on 19 October, Juan Satriano scoring Getafe’s goal.

The goals at the other end are harder to find. Getafe have scored five times in five home league games, and no player in the squad has more than one league goal this season. Ramon Terrats and Satriano are among those with one each.

Bordalas has two suspensions to deal with. Johan Mojica has reached five yellow cards, and Mario Martin was sent off with a straight red five minutes from the end at Athletic. Martin’s dismissal came with Getafe already 3-0 down, and Athletic added a fourth through Yuri Berchiche two minutes from time.

The injury list is long. Christantus Uche has damaged his cruciate ligament and meniscus and won’t play again before April, while Zaid Romero, Juanmi and Orel Mangala are all out. Enes Unal is a doubt with an ankle problem.

Getafe also play a Copa del Rey first-round tie at UB Lebrijana on Thursday. Lugano’s three goals in 26 minutes at the Coliseum last week showed how quickly the home record can crack.

Sevilla: two wins and two draws from five away games, with Fofana setting the tempo Sevilla

Luis Garcia Plaza’s side have lost once away from home in the league, 4-1 at the Bernabéu on 18 October, when Manu Bueno scored Sevilla’s goal. Their other trips brought a 1-0 win at Deportivo La Coruña in September and a 3-3 draw at Levante, where Robbie Ure and Correia also scored and Levante equalised in the 100th minute. That’s nine goals in five away games.

Isaac Romero is the top scorer with three this season. He scored in the 95th minute at Levante and was sent off for a second yellow about a minute later, and he opened the scoring against Osasuna on Monday.

Fofana has been the most productive player in midfield. He has a goal and three assists, two of them against Osasuna, and he and Agoume started together in central midfield at the Bernabéu.

Marcao is out with a muscle problem, and Miguel Sierra dislocated his shoulder and won’t be back before January. Jon Guridi is also injured, and Lucas Stassin is a doubt. Sevilla have no suspensions.

Like Getafe, they play in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, at home to Sporting Hortaleza. Neither side gets the extra rest, and Sevilla go into that tie on the back of a clean sheet rather than nine goals conceded in a week.

Free La Liga Prediction: Getafe vs Sevilla

Our prediction: Sevilla to win @ 2.35

Getafe have conceded nine goals in their last two matches, they’re missing Mojica and Mario Martin through suspension, Uche, Zaid Romero, Juanmi and Mangala through injury, and their own captain and coach have spent the week criticising the squad. Sevilla are eight points better off and won 1-0 at the Coliseum in February.

The home record is the case against me. Getafe haven’t lost a league game at the Coliseum this season and have conceded three goals there, and Bordalas sides are built to make games scrappy. A low-scoring draw at 3.00 is the realistic alternative.

I’d still back Sevilla at 2.35. Getafe’s five home league goals in five games mean they rarely win by more than one, and a team that has scored nine in five away games, with Isaac Romero back and Fofana creating, should find the goal that decides a tight match.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
