Genclerbirligi vs Alanyaspor: Storck’s third league game, and a defence that’s let in 16 in six
Bernd Storck took over at Genclerbirligi on 9 October, after Metin Diyadin left the club. His first two league games ended in a 1-0 home defeat to Galatasaray and a 2-0 loss at Konyaspor, and on Monday he gets a third go at the Eryaman Stadium against Alanyaspor.
Kick-off in Ankara is 17:00 UK time on Monday 2 November, in round ten of the Süper Lig.
The German has inherited a mess. Genclerbirligi are 16th, inside the relegation places, with eight points from nine games and two wins all season. They’ve lost five of their last six league matches.
Alanyaspor are 11th on 12 points and haven’t won in three league games either. They lost 3-0 at Fenerbahce and then 2-1 at home to Kocaelispor, after a goalless home draw with Erzurumspor.
The bookmakers can’t separate them: 2.55 the home win, 3.20 the draw, 2.80 Alanyaspor. One number tips it for me. Alanyaspor haven’t won any of their last six meetings with Genclerbirligi, three defeats and three draws, and I still think this is the week that changes.
Genclerbirligi: three goals in six league games, and the treatment room is full
The start of the season promised more. Genclerbirligi beat Fenerbahce 2-1 in their first home game and won 1-0 at Goztepe a little later. Those are still their only two league wins.
What followed was a 5-0 defeat at Trabzonspor, a 2-1 home loss to Kasimpasa, 4-0 at Istanbul Basaksehir, a 2-2 draw with Amed SK, then the two defeats under Storck. That’s three goals scored and 16 conceded across six games.
Storck hasn’t found a goal yet. Both of his league games, against Galatasaray in Ankara and away at Konyaspor, ended without Genclerbirligi scoring, and the 2-2 with Amed SK on the last day before his arrival is the only league game in six where they scored more than once.
The home record has dried up too. They haven’t won any of their last four league games at the Eryaman, two draws and two defeats since the Fenerbahce win.
Monday’s team sheet will be thin. Dimitrios Goutas has a serious cruciate ligament injury, Ousmane Diabate is suspended after picking up too many yellow cards, and Kevin Rodrigues has a muscle problem. Pedro Pereira is injured, Peter Etebo is a doubt, and Koita, who has a league goal, came off hurt last weekend.
Diabate’s absence takes out one goal and one assist from a side that has spread its scoring very thin. No Genclerbirligi player has scored twice in the league this season.
The 5-0 cup win over Karakopru Belediyespor is the only game this autumn where the attack clicked. It came against a lower-league side.

Alanyaspor: two away wins in the run, and goals from across the side
João Pereira’s side have been better on the road than at home. Their last six league games include a 1-0 win at Caykur Rizespor and a 2-1 win at Corum, while the home games brought draws with Goztepe (2-2) and Erzurumspor (0-0) and the defeat to Kocaelispor.
The 3-0 at Fenerbahce is the heaviest of their recent results, and it’s the only one where they didn’t score away from home in that spell.
Their goals come from all over the pitch. Ruan has two goals and an assist from wing-back, Makouta and Arda Usluoglu have two each, and Lima has chipped in from defence. Florent Hadergjonaj has created three big chances, more than anyone else in the squad.
Omar Ben Ali leads the line and averages one shot on target a game. Hagi and Kaya are expected to play just behind him, and that’s enough craft to trouble a back four without Goutas.
The gap in the table is four points. A win in Ankara would push it to seven and leave Alanyaspor much closer to the top half than to the relegation places. Genclerbirligi would stay on eight points from ten games and three straight defeats under Storck.
Paolo Fernandes is expected to miss out with a hamstring injury and Fatih Aksoy is a doubt with a muscle problem. Neither is a problem the size of Genclerbirligi’s list.
Alanyaspor also won 4-1 against 12 Bingol in the Turkish Cup, so they’ve scored in five of their last seven competitive games.
Probable lineup Genclerbirligi: Akkan; Celik, Aydar, Cavusoglu, Dursun; Luis; Traore, Ulgun, Tongya, Gouveia; Mendes
Probable lineup Alanyaspor: Victor; Lima, Aliti, Ozyurt; Hadergjonaj, Makouta, Gezek, Ruan; Hagi, Kaya; Ben Ali

Our prediction: Alanyaspor to win (2.80)
The head-to-head is the one thing working against this pick. Six meetings without an Alanyaspor win is a long run, and I’ll admit it. But that history was built against Genclerbirligi sides that weren’t conceding 16 goals in six league games.
The double chance on Alanyaspor sits at 1.40, below the price I’m prepared to take, so I’m going straight for the away win. Genclerbirligi have scored three league goals in six weeks, they’re missing centre-back Goutas and the suspended Diabate, who has a goal and an assist, and they haven’t won at home since the opening Fenerbahce game.
Alanyaspor have won twice on their travels in this run and score from five or six different positions. At 2.80, I’d back them to end the head-to-head drought in Ankara.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
