A home final four for Zidane
The French Football Federation is weighing a bid for the 2027 Nations League finals, according to RMC Sport. Federation president Philippe Diallo has talked about the idea for several weeks and confirmed his interest to Ouest-France. The four-team tournament runs from June 9 to 13, 2027, with semi-finals on June 9 and 10, then the third-place match and the final on June 13.
The appeal is plain. Zinédine Zidane only took over the national team a few months ago, and the federation wants to give him the best possible setting for a first trophy.

How the host gets picked
UEFA’s rules point towards one of the four finalists. A circular dated February 5, 2026 says the organisation will “in principle” go to a team in the finals, and the pool of candidates is narrowed on December 6, when UEFA names the quarter-finalists able to host. The final decision comes in March 2027 from the UEFA Executive Committee.
Candidates must offer two stadiums with at least 30,000 seats, ideally one of 50,000, no more than about 150 kilometres apart. Spain has already put its name forward and would like the final at the rebuilt Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid.
Two obstacles for France
UEFA officials told RMC Sport that the chaotic 2022 Champions League final at the Stade de France still colours how they see the French authorities, even after the Olympic Games. The timing is the second concern. Early June could fall in the middle of a legislative election campaign if the next president dissolves the National Assembly after taking office in May, bringing the kind of scenes European football has watched in France recently.
