A threat becomes a blackout
The apology did not settle anything. Chinese streaming platform Migu has taken Racing Santander against Real Madrid off its schedule for La Liga’s 11th round, according to RMC Sport. The match is on Sunday, and it is the first Real fixture to disappear since Kylian Mbappé described Mao Zedong as a dictator.
China Media Group, the broadcaster behind Liga rights in the country, had already confirmed it was suspending matches tied to the France forward. Mundo Deportivo reported on Wednesday that the Santander trip would not be shown. Now it is official on the platform itself. Around 400 million Chinese users will not see Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde or Yan Diomande play.

Everything else is still on
The rest of the weekend is untouched. Villarreal against Espanyol on Friday and Barcelona against Alaves at the Camp Nou on Saturday night both remain in the Chinese listings. Real Madrid, coached by José Mourinho, are the only side removed.
The clean-up goes further than one match. Content linked to the club has disappeared from Migu, with a single exception: a video explaining that Real Madrid apologised for Mbappé’s joke. Javier Tebas and the league moved quickly to calm things down, and the club distanced itself from its player, yet neither step has stopped the pressure.
Mbappé himself is still the main target. His name has been wiped from public spaces and from the social media accounts of his sponsors in China, and his shirt is reportedly hard to find in several shops. Pulling the Santander game is another step in a boycott that is now hitting the club as well as the player.
