Project Striker
Ineos is selling again. After months of trying to move OGC Nice, Jim Ratcliffe’s group has put Lausanne-Sport, the first club it ever bought, on the market. The Athletic reports that advisory firm Alvarez & Marsal has been hired to find a buyer, and that a five-page document called “Project Striker” has gone out to potential investors.
The pitch describes Lausanne as an “established contender” for the top of a 12-team Swiss league that has only two historically dominant clubs, Basel and Young Boys, both struggling lately. The implication is an easier route into European competition than in most leagues.

A rocky Ineos era
Ineos bought the Swiss side in November 2017. Results have swung wildly since: relegated in 2018 and 2022, promoted in 2020 and 2023, and a Conference League campaign last season that ended in the play-offs. Lausanne are bottom of the Super League right now, with one win and six points from 11 games.
Nice still waiting
The Nice sale has dragged on since early 2025. Advanced talks with a foreign investor collapsed in the summer of 2026, and Ineos remains open to a deal. The original asking price, above 200 million euros eighteen months ago, has been cut. Nice management is trimming costs to make the club more self-sufficient in the meantime.
Behind the moves sits Manchester United. Ineos wants to concentrate on the club where it runs sporting decisions, and it reported more than 12 billion in debt in the second quarter of 2026, which has pushed it to slow its sports spending.
