Eyupspor vs Goztepe: the league’s leakiest defence against an attack that keeps scoring
Two goals scored, 16 conceded. That’s Eyupspor after six Super Lig games, and nobody in the division has let in more. They host Goztepe on Monday in round seven, kick-off 19:00 Paris time, with the bottom two places in the table on the line.
Both sides have three points. Neither has much to feel good about. Eyupspor have lost their last three league games without scoring, and Goztepe are still waiting for their first league win of the season.
The data paints a specific picture here, though. Goztepe have scored 11 league goals, the most of any side in the bottom five, and they’ve found the net in each of their last five league games. Eyupspor have drawn a blank in three straight.
Context matters too. Eyupspor’s last outing before the break was an 8-0 thrashing at Fenerbahce, and head coach Ozhan Pulat resigned shortly afterwards. Mustafa Dalci, appointed on 29 September, takes charge for the first time.
The head-to-head offers the hosts some comfort. Eyupspor are unbeaten in four Super Lig meetings with Goztepe, and the last three have all ended level. That’s a pattern worth noting, not one worth trusting blindly.
Can a new coach fix a side that’s conceded 13 in its last three league games in under a fortnight? The numbers say it’s a big ask.
Eyupspor: a new coach, a fresh start, and a defence in pieces
Mustafa Dalci has been honest about the task. He’s spoken about wanting to erase the trauma left by the 8-0 defeat in Kadikoy, saying the physical numbers can be raised quickly but the real work is psychological. He’s had around 11 or 12 days of intensive work with the squad.
The results he inherits make for uncomfortable reading. A 1-0 loss at Besiktas, a 1-0 home defeat to Gaziantep, then the only bright spot, a 2-1 home win over Alanyaspor. After that, 3-0 at Corum, 0-2 at home to Caykur Rizespor, and the collapse at Fenerbahce.
Three straight defeats. Zero goals. Thirteen conceded.
Fitness is a concern. Abdelhamid Sabiri is doubtful with a muscle problem, and Jawad El Yamiq faces a late fitness test. Losing El Yamiq would weaken a back line that already can’t hold its shape under pressure.
Ahmed Abdullahi should lead the attack, with Bilal Boutobba and Konrad Michalak providing width. The win over Alanyaspor proved Eyupspor can hurt teams at home. They just haven’t shown it since.
Dalci has called this game a vital three points. He’s right. It’s also the toughest kind of first match: no time, little confidence, and a visiting attack that’s been scoring freely on the road.

Goztepe: seven away goals in three trips, but no wins to show for it
Three draws, three defeats. For a side praised for its defensive solidity last season, Goztepe’s 15 goals conceded doesn’t bear close inspection. Only Eyupspor have let in more.
The attack tells a different story. Seven goals in three away games, including a 3-3 draw at Samsunspor on the opening weekend, a 3-2 defeat at Galatasaray and a 2-2 draw at Alanyaspor. Stanimir Stoilov’s side create chances wherever they go.
What they can’t do is hold a lead. A 0-1 home defeat to Genclerbirligi, then 2-4 at home to Gaziantep, and a 2-2 draw with Caykur Rizespor before the break that needed a late penalty to rescue. That’s a side that’s leaking at the wrong moments.
The squad list is long on doubts. Gokdeniz Bayrakdar, Allan Godoi, Furkan Bayir, Noah Sonko Sundberg, Ibrahim Sabra and Nevzat Uzel are all questionable. Stoilov’s system is well established, and even Dalci admitted it hardly matters who plays in it.
Juan and Janderson should start up front with Andre behind them. Malcolm Bokele, Ege Yildirim and Taha Altikardes form the back three. Their job is simple. Stop conceding.
Probable lineup Eyupspor: Moldovan; Ulvan, Yasar, Jules, Giordano; Matondo; Boutobba, Costa, Raux-Yao, Michalak; Abdullahi
Probable lineup Goztepe: Ozcimen; Altikardes, Yildirim, Bokele; Kurtulan, Rhaldney, Matos, Akonnor; Andre; Janderson, Juan

Our prediction: Goztepe win or draw (double chance X2)
It’s not complicated: an Eyupspor side that hasn’t scored in three league games, with 13 goals conceded over that run, against a Goztepe team that has scored in five straight league matches and averages more than two goals a game away from home.
The new-coach effect is real, and the head-to-head shows three straight draws in this fixture. That’s exactly why we’re covering the draw rather than backing Goztepe outright. A point for the visitors still lands this pick.
What we can’t see is Eyupspor winning a game where they’ll need to score more than once. They’ve managed two goals all season. Goztepe’s attack gives them the edge, and the double chance protects against another stalemate.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses, that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
