Edmonton Oilers – Anaheim Ducks: this one could get wild again!
The first game was a complete mess for both defences. The Edmonton Oilers scraped through 4-3 after absolutely collapsing in the second period. There were seven goals, plenty of drama and, above all, two teams that sometimes seem to forget how to defend. Anaheim showed they can bite, but Edmonton’s depth eventually made the difference in the end.
Tonight, we go again for round two.
Edmonton: an attack that comes from everywhere
The good news for the Edmonton Oilers is that the stars are no longer doing it all on their own. Jason Dickinson and Kasperi Kapanen kept them afloat in the last game, proving the Edmonton Oilers can still win even when the big names are a little off it. That’s what makes the Edmonton Oilers so dangerous this season: the threat is everywhere.
With Leon Draisaitl already handing out assists since his return, the Edmonton Oilers have a lethal weapon on the power play. At the back, Connor Ingram did the business with 25 saves, bailing the Edmonton Oilers out on a crucial 2-on-1 late on. For tonight, the Edmonton Oilers still need to stop switching off for 20 minutes if they want to avoid a nasty surprise. The Edmonton Oilers clearly have the edge in quality, but they can be shaky. If the Edmonton Oilers keep the throttle pinned all night, Anaheim won’t be able to keep up physically. The Edmonton Oilers know a win tonight would put them in a strong position before heading to California.
Anaheim: ducks with a nasty streak
The Ducks are not here to make up the numbers. Their second-period burst showed they can blow Edmonton apart in a matter of minutes. Troy Terry and the young Leo Carlsson are dangerous operators, always ready to punish even the smallest defensive lapse.
Lukas Dostal did what he could with 30 saves, but he folded under the pressure late on. Anaheim’s problem is simple: they’re explosive going forward, but far too soft at the back once the pace rises. Against an attack like this, that usually ends up costing them.
NHL pick Oilers vs Ducks
Over 5.5 total goals
The first game set the tone. These are two teams built to attack, with goalies who can be rattled. Between Edmonton’s firepower and Anaheim’s youthful energy, it’s hard to see this ending as a low-scoring affair.
Seven goals went in in the opener, and there is nothing to suggest the coaches will suddenly turn this into a shut-down battle inside 48 hours. So we’re backing an open game with at least six goals on the board. It’s the obvious play given how loose both sides have looked so far.
First, a word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal out of nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, nothing really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, sooner or later, you will.
- The smart move is to stay disciplined. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need for everyday life. And above all: don’t chase losses, because it rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much of your day, winding you up or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support service. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, responsibility sits with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will always exist, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our picks are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot rely on them to claim anything if a bet loses.
Information can change
A pick is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a line-up changes, a player gets hurt, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you place a bet, check that betting is legal where you live. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
Responsible gambling comes first
We cannot say it enough: gamble in moderation. If you struggle to stay in control, do not wait to get help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.
Legal age
Mathodds content is intended for adults only. By using this site, you confirm that you are old enough under the law to bet.
