FC Copenhagen vs Braga : a perfect home record against a defence that hasn’t been breached in Europe
Seven home games this season. Seven wins. At least two goals in every one of them. That’s FC Copenhagen at Parken in 2026-27, and it’s the starting point for Thursday’s Conference League opener against Braga.
The counterweight is just as striking. Braga kept a clean sheet in all six of their qualifying matches in this competition. Six games, zero goals conceded.
Something has to give. Kick-off is 21:00 Paris time at Parken, on matchday one of the league phase.
Both clubs came through the qualifying route. Copenhagen beat Inter Turku 4-1 at home to seal their place. Braga edged past Austria Vienna 2-0 on aggregate. Neither side would have chosen to be here: Copenhagen finished 31st in the Champions League league phase last season, while Braga reached the Europa League semi-finals before a fourth-place league finish dropped them into Europe’s third tier.
The data paints a specific picture. Copenhagen are flying at home. Braga’s domestic form has dipped badly, and their road record is poor: one win in their last six away matches.
So which number wins out? Our reading: the home one.
FC Copenhagen: top of the Superliga and unbeatable at Parken
Bo Svensson’s side needed a play-off win over Brondby just to get back into Europe after a poor 2025-26. Since then, the turnaround has been sharp.
Three qualifying rounds produced four wins and two draws, 17 goals scored and only six conceded. All three continental home qualifiers ended in victory. At Parken in all competitions, it’s seven from seven, five of them by a margin of two goals or more.
That’s a side that knows exactly what it’s about at home.
The weekend brought a setback: a 2-1 defeat at Midtjylland. Copenhagen still sit top of the Danish Superliga, though, and a reaction in front of their own fans is far more likely than a hangover. The one caution is the schedule, with another league game three days after this one, which could prompt some rotation.
Team news is manageable. Magnus Mattsson remains out with a serious knee injury, and Mads Madsen is a doubt after illness kept him out at Midtjylland. Diant Ramaj should start in goal, Thomas Delaney and William Clem are likely in midfield, and Mohamed Elyounoussi should operate behind Andreas Cornelius.
Cornelius leading the line, Elyounoussi feeding him. That partnership has driven the home goal count.

Braga: six European clean sheets, but one win in six on the road
Six qualifiers, six clean sheets. Nobody can take that away from Carlos Vicens’ side, and it’s the main reason Braga deserve respect here.
The domestic picture is far less flattering. Friday’s 3-1 home defeat to Sporting Lisbon leaves them seventh in the Primeira Liga with one win from their last four (D1, L2). A 2-1 loss at Estrela Amadora and a goalless draw at Santa Clara sit in that run too. The attack has gone quiet.
Away from home is where the concern deepens. One win in their last six away matches. They’ve only lost once in that spell, which suggests a team that’s hard to beat but struggles to win on the road. Draws aren’t wins, and this side has been drawing or losing more than it should.
Sikou Niakate is still out with the Achilles injury that’s kept him sidelined since April. Bernardo Fontes is expected in goal behind a back three of Gustaf Lagerbielke, Victor Carvalho and Adrian Bajrami. Joao Moutinho and Jean-Baptiste Gorby should form the double pivot, with captain Ricardo Horta in the front three and new signing Jovan Milosevic pushing for a start.
Can that back three hold up against a side that has scored twice in every home game? It’s the central question. The qualifying clean sheets came against a lower level of opposition than an in-form Copenhagen at Parken.
And Braga’s own goals have dried up. Not a great time to visit.
Probable lineup FC Copenhagen: Ramaj; Beijmo, Sorensen, Markgraf, Lopez; Delaney, Clem; Kral, Elyounoussi, Robert; Cornelius
Probable lineup Braga: Fontes; Lagerbielke, V. Carvalho, Bajrami; V. Gomez, Gorby, Moutinho, G. Silva; P. Victor, Milosevic, Horta

Our prediction: FC Copenhagen to win (odds around 2.50)
The market sees this as close to a coin flip, with both sides priced around the 2.50 mark. The data doesn’t. Copenhagen have won every home game this season, scoring at least twice each time, and they’re top of their league.
Braga’s European clean sheets are impressive but came in qualifying. Their current form tells a different story: seventh domestically, one win in four, and one win in their last six away matches. That combination doesn’t bear close inspection against a home side this consistent.
Rotation is the main risk for Copenhagen given the tight schedule. Even so, at 2.50 the home win offers real value, and it’s the logical conclusion of the numbers.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal: and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses, that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
