Como vs Parma: seven goals to one, the lopsided numbers behind this round’s opener 
Como have scored seven goals in three Serie A games. Parma have managed one. That seven-to-one split tells the story better than anything heading into Monday’s clash at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Just four days after the biggest European night in their history, the Lariani are back to the grind of Serie A. Kick-off is set for Monday 14 September at 18:30 Paris time at Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium. Como host Parma in one of the round’s delayed fixtures.

Riding the European high: Como arrive off a superb debut in the Champions League, a 4-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig. Now they have to back it up and avoid the usual physical and mental hangover.

The Parma trap: Against a well-rested opponent who will fancy their chances of punishing any sign of fatigue, Como need to set the tempo early and finish this historic week in style.
That European night was a statement: 4-1 against RB Leipzig, two goals in each half. Cesc Fabregas sent his side into the competition with a level of control few expected from a club that was still in Italy’s fourth tier less than a decade ago.
The table backs that up. Como sit fourth with seven points from a possible nine, just two behind the top three of Roma, Inter and Lazio.
Parma are down in 17th with a single point. The Gialloblu had not scored or picked up a point before their 1-1 draw with Monza last week.
The defensive numbers widen the gap even further. Como have conceded three goals in three matches, while Parma have shipped four and scored just once.
History also leans one way. Parma have not won away at Como in seven meetings across Serie B and Serie A, and their last visit to Sinigaglia ended in a 1-0 defeat in May.
Both benches are manned by Spanish coaches, Cesc Fabregas and Carlos Cuesta. But their teams have gone in completely different directions since the season started.
Como are already looking ahead to their next European test, a trip to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord next month. Rotation will be part of the picture on Monday night.
For Parma, the aim is simpler and more urgent: avoid slipping behind this early in the season. A fourth game without a win would drag the Gialloblu further towards the danger zone.
Then there is the pace of it all, the one thing that could genuinely worry the hosts. Playing Champions League and league football every four days is a new test for this young squad.
Como, now finding their feet on the back of Europe 
Como started the season with three straight away games while Sinigaglia was being brought up to UEFA standards. In the end, the schedule helped them more than it hindered them.
A 1-1 draw at Udinese, a 2-1 win at Napoli’s Stadio Maradona, then a 4-1 success in Genoa: seven points from seven on the road. That result in Campania is still the standout of their opening run.
So their first home game came against RB Leipzig, and the scoreline says plenty about this side’s ability to stick to a plan on two fronts. Fabregas quickly called for calm afterwards, aware his team are still learning the rhythm of two matches a week.
On the numbers, the unbeaten run now stretches to nine games if you include the end of last season. No other mid-table side in Italy can match that run right now.
There are options everywhere in attack, and that makes a huge difference in a packed week. Assane Diao has scored three times in his last two outings.
Nico Paz, Martin Baturina and Tasos Douvikas are already on the scoresheet or among the assists as well. That spread means Como are not leaning on one man to do it all.
Moise Kean, signed in the summer, is fighting Douvikas for the central role, with Douvikas Como’s top scorer last season. Fabregas has two very different options to attack the deep block Parma are likely to set.
Only one player is missing through injury, Jayden Addai, who has been out for a long time. That near-full availability gives Fabregas room to rotate without much drop-off, and that is the clearest built-in edge in this fixture.

Parma, blunt in attack since Pellegrino left 
Parma have managed just eight shots on target so far this season. That tells you everything about an attack that has been close to non-existent, and it fits the pattern of a previous campaign already marked by a lack of cutting edge.
Mateo Pellegrino’s departure in the 2026 summer window left Carlos Cuesta without his focal point up front. Nobody has stepped into that role yet, and their first two league matches ended without a goal.
A 1-0 home loss to Cagliari, then a 2-0 defeat in Turin against Juventus: the scoreboard stayed blank for 180 minutes. Parma had to wait until the visit of Monza to open their season.
Teenager Simone Lontani finally ended that dry spell, levelling things up at the Tardini. To date, that remains Parma’s only point in Serie A.
Their Coppa Italia exit at home to Cremonese did nothing to lift the mood. Since the restart, the trend has been poor across the board.
Away from home, the picture is downright grim: three trips, three defeats, no goals. One of those losses came at Como last season.
The injury list is making life harder for the Spanish coach. Hans Nicolussi Caviglia remains out with a groin injury, while Adrian Bernabe and Ousmane Diallo are both doubts.
Sascha Britschgi went off after taking a knock against Monza, but he is expected to be fit for Monday night. Even so, Cuesta may have to reshuffle his midfield against a side that presses high.

Parma have failed to score in their last three away games and have not won at Como in seven attempts. That’s a big enough sample to matter.
Como have scored four goals in each of their last two outings, away at Genoa and then against RB Leipzig. Their squad depth should let them keep that level up, even four days after Europe.
At the other end, an attack with only eight shots on target in three league games is not scaring a defence that has conceded just three goals. The mismatch runs through both ends of the pitch.
The Lariani should win by at least two goals. That is the outcome the numbers point to most clearly.
