A huge Sunday awaits at Villa Park. Aston Villa host Tottenham in a late-season atmosphere where every point is worth its weight in gold. Let’s be honest, these two sides are on different planets right now. The home side are inches away from sealing a place in next season’s Champions League, while the visitors have finally dragged themselves out of the mire and can now see a bit of daylight above the relegation scrap.

You have to say, Aston Villa’s season has been impressive, even with a slight wobble of late. The club must shake off their narrow first-leg defeat in the Europa League semi-final against Nottingham Forest, but the drive is still there. Aston Villa could book their spot in the Champions League this weekend with a win, if other results go their way. At home, they are on a run of four straight victories, which makes them a nasty proposition for anyone. They may still have one eye on next Thursday’s European second leg, though.

Even so, Aston Villa have already shown their edge this season by beating this same opponent twice. Their attacking power will be the main weapon as they try to crack the visitors open. Aston Villa are not about to let this kind of chance slip in front of their own fans.

Tottenham and the De Zerbi effect undefined

At the other end, Tottenham can finally breathe a little after their narrow win at Wolverhampton. It’s hardly mission accomplished, but they have picked up four points from their last two games, as many as they managed in the previous 13. Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival in the Tottenham dugout is starting to show, with a much sharper edge in the final third. Spurs are finally showing some fight after far too many months drifting through the season.

Oddly enough, Tottenham have travelled pretty well this term, collecting most of their points away from London. They can lean on a sharp Richarlison to provide a threat up front. The club know exactly what is at stake, and a positive result would send out a strong message to the teams around them. Tottenham will not turn up just to make up the numbers, no matter who they are up against. Their target is simple: scrap for every point they can to put daylight between themselves and the danger zone.

Expected line-ups

Aston Villa : Martinez ; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen ; Tielemans, Bogarde ; Bailey, Rogers, Sancho ; Watkins

Tottenham : Kinsky ; Porro, Danso, Van de Ven, Udogie ; Bentancur, Palhinha ; Kolo Muani, Gallagher, Tel ; Richarlison

Football prediction Aston Villa vs Tottenham

both teams to score

This one looks open and lively. On one side, the home team could have their minds on Europe, which may leave a few gaps at the back. On the other, the visitors have found some cutting edge under their new coach and are scrapping like mad to keep their place in the top flight. Villa may be favourites on paper, but the Londoners’ bite could make this much more even than expected. A goal for each side feels the likeliest outcome, with a draw very much in play too.

A word on our predictions first

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It is an opinion, a read of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, a tactical blunder, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when something looks obvious, it never really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will, at some point.
  • The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need for day-to-day life. And whatever you do, do not chase losses; it rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much space in your life, if it’s making you angry or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support group. That is what they are there for.
  • In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never go away, no matter how strong the analysis is.
  • Key reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions are not a contract. They carry no legal weight. In plain terms: you cannot use them to claim anything if a bet does not land.

Information can change

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But after that, a line-up changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before placing a bet, simply check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gambling first

We cannot say it enough: bet in moderation. If you struggle to keep control, do not wait to get help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.
