Sydney Kings vs Brisbane Bullets: the last two unbeaten sides meet in Sydney 
The Sydney Kings host the Brisbane Bullets at Afterpay Arena on Wednesday 30 September, with tip-off at 11h30 Paris time. It is the second game of Round 3 and a meeting between the only two clubs still without a loss in NBL27.
Sydney enter the season as defending champions and have done nothing to suggest they are ready to give up their crown. Brisbane, coming off a difficult, injury-hit campaign last year, have been the early surprise of the competition.
The Kings are 2-0 after two home wins: 111-90 over Cairns and 121-100 over Illawarra last Sunday. The Bullets are 2-0 as well, having edged New Zealand 88-85 and then beaten Illawarra 103-95 on Friday night.
There is no direct meeting yet this season, but Illawarra offer a common reference point. Brisbane beat the Hawks by eight at home, while Sydney beat that same team by 21 two days later.
That gap sets up the question for Wednesday. Can the Bullets carry their early momentum into the toughest arena in the league, or will the champions keep their home record perfect?
The calendar after this game is very different for the two clubs. Brisbane return home to host Tasmania on Saturday 3 October, while Sydney do not play again until they host Adelaide on Sunday 11 October.
Sydney Kings Analysis 
Two games, two wins, and 232 points scored: Sydney’s start has been close to ideal. Both wins came by 21 points, which says a lot about how quickly this roster has clicked.
The opener against Cairns set the tone, with the Kings shooting 54.9 per cent from the field. Against Illawarra, they went past the 120-point mark in the Freeway derby.
Rest has also worked in their favour. Sydney had a full week off before the derby, while Illawarra were backing up from a Friday night game in Brisbane.
At home, Sydney play fast and push the ball in transition, which puts pressure on any defence that is slow to get back. The crowd at Afterpay Arena, more than 13,600 for the opener, adds to that pressure.
Tyler Harvey and Sam Froling had given Brisbane plenty of trouble two days earlier, with 20 points for Harvey and a double-double for Froling. Sydney still ran away from that same Illawarra team, which is the clearest measure of where the champions stand.
Kendric Davis leads the way. He is second on the league scoring list at 28.5 points per game, with Matthew Dellavedova, Torrey Craig and Xavier Cooks forming the experienced core around him.
The one absence reported before the Illawarra game was Keli Leaupepe. The rest of the rotation looks settled, and that depth is a big reason why the Kings have been able to finish games so strongly.

Brisbane Bullets Analysis 
The Bullets are 2-0, and both wins came in Brisbane. The first was played outdoors at Pat Rafter Arena, the second at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Those results matter for a club that went through a poor season last year. The new-look roster has shown organisation and energy, and other teams have had little time to scout it.
The Illawarra win came against a roster built to contend for the title, which gives it extra weight. Basketball Sphere described the Bullets as the main dark horse of this early stage of the season.
Offensively, the Bullets have gone from 88 points against New Zealand to 103 against Illawarra. On the other end, they gave up 95 to the Hawks, which is a higher number than they will want against a Sydney attack in this form.
Arnas Velicka is the engine. The Lithuanian point guard posted 23 points and 14 assists on debut and sparked the third-quarter run that beat the Breakers.
His playmaking will face a stern test against Dellavedova, one of the most experienced guards in the league. Handling Sydney’s pressure without turning the ball over will decide how long Brisbane stay in the game.
Wednesday will be their first trip of the season, five days after the win over the Hawks. The schedule has been kind to Brisbane so far, and that changes now.
The challenge is simple to describe and hard to solve: a first away assignment against the champions. Taine Murray and Sam McDaniel were both listed out before the Illawarra game, which thins the rotation further.

Sydney have won both home games by 21 points and beat the common opponent, Illawarra, by a much bigger margin than Brisbane did. Kendric Davis gives them a scorer who can take over, and the supporting cast has plenty of big-game experience.
Brisbane deserve credit for their start, but they have not yet played away from home this season. Stepping into Afterpay Arena against the champions, with two rotation players missing, is a very different task.
Sydney’s margins so far could make any handicap line large, which is why we stick with the outright result. A Kings win fits every piece of evidence from the first two rounds.
