The Storm head into this one with eight wins and 34 losses, the worst record in the WNBA in 2026. Dallas, meanwhile, arrive with 26 wins and a spot in the top eight.
Both teams play their final regular-season game on Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Tip-off is set for 4:00 a.m. Paris time, in the early hours of Wednesday into Thursday, with coverage on CNBC and USA Network.
The stakes are very different. Seattle have been out of it for weeks, while the Wings are still fighting for their playoff seeding.
The standings as of 20 September had Liberty, Mystics and Wings locked together at 26-16. Three teams, three seeds, and not much separating them.
Dallas already blew a chance on Monday night in Phoenix. That one-point loss turns this trip to the league’s bottom side into a must-win.
Seattle finish their season without key interior players 
The Storm are 2-18 on the road this season, a split that does plenty of damage to their overall record. At home, it’s been a different story: six of their eight wins have come at Climate Pledge Arena.
That matters here, with the game taking place in Seattle. They have usually shown more fight there than they have away from home, even against better sides.
The injury list tells its own story. Ezi Magbegor tore her ACL while playing for Australia at the FIBA World Cup, and her WNBA season ended there and then.
Katie Lou Samuelson followed on 12 September after knee surgery, with four games left to play. So the Storm close out the year with a shortened rotation and without two of their most-used pieces.
Their last two outings say plenty about where they are right now. Seattle went down 70-57 in San Francisco on 19 September, then lost again in Las Vegas the next day.
Across those two games, they never really kept pace after the break. That’s exactly the sort of script Dallas will look to repeat.

Dallas have a seed to protect and a finish to clean up 
The Wings were 11 points up in the fourth quarter on Monday in Phoenix. They still lost 87-86 after Kahleah Copper dropped in a lay-up with 2.4 seconds left, set up by Alyssa Thomas.
Two days earlier, the same matchup went Dallas’ way, 87-82 at College Park Center in Arlington. A clean sweep would have given them a healthy cushion in the three-team scrap for sixth and seventh.
The permutations published on the night of 21 September leave little room for confusion. Dallas take sixth if they finish with more wins than Liberty and Mystics down the stretch.
Seventh place needs them to finish level with New York, while Washington also have to lose twice. Anything else sends the Wings to eighth, and into a first-round date with the best record in the league.
On the road, Dallas are exactly even, with 10 wins and 10 defeats. That is more than enough against the team sitting dead last overall.
Those two recent games against Phoenix were decided by five points and then one. The Wings know how to close tight games, for better or worse, which is reason enough to be wary about the margin.

The record gap is the obvious starting point: 26 wins against eight, plus a Storm side without Magbegor or Samuelson for the final game of the year.
