Paris FC vs Lyon: seven points each, and only one ticket to the podium 
Paris FC and Lyon sit on exactly the same total after three rounds of Ligue 1: seven points. Only goal difference separates second from third.
Paris arrive on the back of a statement win. On 6 September, they went to the Velodrome and beat Marseille 3-2 to close out matchday three.
Lyon had already done the business the day before with a 3-1 win over Auxerre. Two wins in the same weekend, two different ways of backing up a strong start.
The game is set for Saturday 12 September at 20:45 local time, at Stade Jean-Bouin. Matchday four is already serving up a straight fight near the top.
The history between these two is barely worth a chapter. Two meetings, two draws. Nobody has managed to put this fixture to bed yet.
Paris FC come in with four wins from their last six games in all competitions. This isn’t some lucky streak that’ll vanish overnight.
Even so, the market has sided with the visitors: 3,15 for PFC, 3,55 for the draw, 2,00 for Lyon. Paris’ injury list is the main reason for that split.
Jean-Bouin is not used to hosting games of this size. Paris FC will welcome the league’s second-placed side in a direct battle at the top.
The draw price, fixed at 3,55, is worth a closer look. The only two meetings between these clubs have finished level.

Paris FC made a real statement at the Velodrome 
Going to Marseille and taking three points changes how people see a team. The 3-2 win on 6 September is the club’s biggest result since returning to the top flight.
That victory also adds to a very sharp defensive start. Paris FC had not conceded in their opening two league games.
The Velodrome broke that seal with two Marseille goals. The flip side is that Paris showed they can also win a game that opens up.
Four wins from the last six matches complete the picture. Not many Ligue 1 sides can point to that kind of return this early in the season.
The treatment room, though, is getting crowded before Lyon arrive. Emmanuel Mbemba, Otavio, Nhoa Sangui and Jonathan Ikone are all out.
Losing Mbemba and Ikone in the same match takes a chunk out of the spine at one end and the wide threat at the other. That may well be where this game turns.
Paris have been thrown straight into the deep end. Three matchdays, a trip to the Velodrome, and seven points anyway.
Otavio and Nhoa Sangui join Mbemba and Ikone on the absentee list. Four players out is a lot for a squad still finding its feet in the top division.
The biggest plus for Paris is their ability to see out a result. Two clean sheets to start, then a five-goal thriller they still managed to win: they can do it any which way.

Lyon keep rolling despite a messy end to the window 
Lyon wrapped up matchday three with a clear 3-1 win over Auxerre. Seven points from nine is their best start for several seasons.
The club did, though, stumble through a hectic end to the transfer window. Malick Fofana and Afonso Moreira were sold in the final hours.
Around 70 million euros came in from those exits. The sporting department is standing by the calls and pointing to a squad deeper than it might look.
Lois Openda is the face of this new-look Lyon attack. The summer arrivals have stepped in for the departures and the team has kept moving.
Their only away game of the season so far ended in victory. That matters before a trip to Jean-Bouin against an unbeaten home side.
Bookmakers have Lyon as favourites at around 2,00. That’s as much about squad depth as Paris FC’s injury problems.
The 3-1 against Auxerre backed up the opening two rounds. Seven from nine is as good as it gets short of perfection.
The sporting hierarchy has openly defended those late sales. Matthieu Louis-Jean admitted things could have been handled better, while still insisting the depth is there.
Lyon are ahead of Paris FC only on goal difference. A win at Jean-Bouin would create a first real gap in the podium race.

Four Paris absentees, including an experienced centre-back and an international winger, against a Lyon squad that looks close to full strength. That imbalance is the big talking point here.
Lyon have already won their only away game this season and just put three past Auxerre. Paris FC, by contrast, conceded twice at the Velodrome after two clean sheets.
Lyon are priced at around 2,00, with the hosts at 3,15. We’re backing the away win at Jean-Bouin.
The draw at 3,55 still has a case, given the two previous meetings ended level. But the better call is to side with the more complete team on paper.
