SC Paderborn vs Eintracht Frankfurt: a promoted side unbeaten in three, a visiting defence shipping 2.75 a game
Can Uzun had 77 touches and set up a goal in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-1 win over Hamburg on Sunday, and he was the top-rated player on the pitch. He’ll get a harder afternoon in Paderborn on Saturday 7 November, 14:30 UK time, against a team that hasn’t lost in the Bundesliga since 10 October.
Frankfurt are favourites at 2.10 to 2.20, with Paderborn around 3.00 and the draw at 3.80. I’m not convinced by that, and the gap in the table is smaller than the prices suggest.
Adi Hütter’s side are eighth with 11 points. Ralf Kettemann’s are 14th with nine, but they’ve gone draw, win, draw since Stuttgart beat them, conceding two goals in those three games.
Frankfurt’s goal difference is minus five after eight matches, and that’s with Sunday’s win included. They’ve conceded 18 in the league, twice what Paderborn have let in.
These clubs haven’t met since June 2020, when Frankfurt won 3-2. Of six meetings Paderborn have won three, Frankfurt two, and one was drawn.
SC Paderborn: nine conceded in eight league games, and Tigges back in form
Nine goals against is the figure that keeps Paderborn out of the bottom three. Saturday’s 0-0 at Borussia Mönchengladbach was their second league clean sheet in a row, after the 1-0 home win over Hamburg on 24 October.
The home record is two wins and two defeats, four scored and four conceded. Hoffenheim were beaten 3-1 and Hamburg 1-0, while Freiburg won 1-0 and Stuttgart 2-0.
Steffen Tigges has given the side a focal point. The 28-year-old, signed from Köln in August 2025, scored in the Hoffenheim win, then set up Stefano Marino and scored himself in the 2-2 at Werder Bremen, where Niclas Füllkrug needed two second-half goals to rescue the home side.
Goals remain the limit on this team. They’ve scored six in eight league games, and two of their three draws finished 0-0.
The squad is stretched in midfield. Hoffmeier, Gayret, Michel, Klaas, Awortwie-Grant and Meier are all listed as out, and Vidovic is doubtful with a foot injury, in which case Tom Baack is the likely replacement.
They also lost 1-0 to Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal last Wednesday after playing most of the game with ten men, then kept a clean sheet in Mönchengladbach three days later.

Eintracht Frankfurt: 13 scored, 18 conceded and one clean sheet all season
Sunday’s win came with help. Warmed Omari put through his own net after 10 minutes, Terem Moffi equalised, and Raphael Onyedika and Younes Ebnoutalib scored after the break. Chaïbi had a further goal ruled out for offside and Noah Atubolu made two good saves late on.
It was also the second 3-1 win over Hamburg in five days, after the DFB-Pokal tie, so the confidence is real. Niko Ilicevic’s stoppage-time debut at 16 years and one day took the headlines, but Uzun was the reason Frankfurt controlled it.
The away numbers are far worse. Four league games on the road have brought one win, a draw and two defeats, six scored and 11 conceded: a 3-3 at Union Berlin, a 3-1 win at Mainz, a 6-0 defeat at RB Leipzig and a 1-0 defeat at Dortmund.
Frankfurt’s only clean sheet of the league season came against Köln. Hütter’s back four of Elias Baum, Robin Koch, Brassier and Kosugi has conceded in seven of eight, and Koch picked up a booking for protesting on Sunday, as did Hütter.
Ebnoutalib is the danger. He had three goals after the opening weekend and added another on Sunday, and Jonathan Burkardt is available from the bench after an awkward exchange with Ilicevic that Hütter said the players would sort out among themselves.
Ngankam (hamstring) is the only listed absentee, so Hütter can pick from nearly everyone. Paderborn’s 3-1 over Hoffenheim is also proof they can score against a defence that gives up chances.
Probable lineup SC Paderborn: Noll; Ter-Horst, Scheller, Götze; Curda, Ulrich, Castaneda, Vidovic, Obermair; Tigges, Marino
Probable lineup Eintracht Frankfurt: Atubolu; Baum, Koch, Brassier, Kosugi; Onyedika, Aséko; Doan, Uzun, Chaïbi; Ebnoutalib

Our prediction: SC Paderborn draw no bet at 2.25
I’d back the home side with the stake returned on a draw. Paderborn have conceded nine in eight league games, two in their last three, and Frankfurt have let in 11 in four away from home.
Uzun’s form and Ebnoutalib’s goals are the case against, and Paderborn’s midfield injuries won’t help. They’ve scored more than once at home only against Hoffenheim. I still think the market is paying too much for Sunday’s result.
A 1-1 or a narrow Paderborn win is where I land. At 2.25 with the draw covered, that’s the bet.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
