Feyenoord vs Fortuna Sittard: the league’s best attack against a side unbeaten away from home
Nacho Ferri and Hadj Moussa have six league goals each, and Zechiel has five. Between them they’ve scored more than half of Feyenoord’s 32 Eredivisie goals, the highest total in the division after ten rounds.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side top the table on 24 points, unbeaten with seven wins and three draws, and only FC Twente have conceded fewer than their 11. Ajax are second on 21, with PSV, Twente and AZ all on 20.
Fortuna Sittard sit sixth on 18 points after five wins, three draws and two defeats, with 17 goals scored and 17 conceded. Danny Buijs’s side are unbeaten in six in all competitions and haven’t lost away from home in the league this season.
Across their last five games Fortuna have won two and drawn three, scoring eight and conceding six, with both teams scoring in four of them. They come to De Kuip off a cup tie on Wednesday, a 2-2 draw at Sparta Rotterdam that Fortuna won on penalties. Feyenoord haven’t played since the 1-1 draw at PSV on 25 October, and Inter visit Rotterdam in the Champions League three days after this game.
Feyenoord are unbeaten in the last 14 meetings and have won the last three, the most recent 2-1 in Sittard on 3 May. Fortuna’s last win in this fixture came in 2019.
Kick-off is 15:30 UK time on Saturday 31 October, with Joey Kooij refereeing. Feyenoord are 1.17 to win, which is too short for me, so the bet below is built around how this game is likely to go rather than who wins it.
Feyenoord: 32 goals in ten, but conceding in four of their last five
The big wins came early. Feyenoord beat PEC Zwolle 7-0 away and FC Utrecht 5-0 at home, and Ferri took over as the main striker after Ayase Ueda left for Lille.
The recent games have been tighter at the back. Feyenoord won 4-3 at Telstar on 17 October, beat Como 3-2 in the Champions League, lost 1-0 at Real Betis and then drew 1-1 at PSV, conceding in four of their last five matches.
The 2-0 home win over AZ on 10 October was the last clean sheet. Since then the defence has let in seven goals in four games.
Van Bronckhorst is short of bodies, especially at the back, where Nieuwkoop and Bos, both with knee problems, haven’t played this season, Smal has an ankle injury, Beelen is out, Reiss Nelson has a muscle problem and Shaqueel van Persie is back on the treatment table.
The expected side is the one that has carried the run: Ernst in goal, Watanabe and St. Juste at centre-back, Zechiel, Vanhoutte and Targhalline in midfield. Hadj Moussa, Ferri and Valente should make up the front three.
Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie last season. Ten games into this one they lead by three points, and they’d won four league games in a row before the draw at PSV.

Fortuna Sittard: four away games unbeaten and nothing conceded in the first 15 minutes
Fortuna’s away results this season read 2-2 at PSV on the opening day, 3-2 at ADO Den Haag, 1-0 at Willem II and 2-2 at NEC on 18 October. They’ve scored at least once in each of them.
They’re also one of two Eredivisie sides yet to concede in the opening 15 minutes, and they’ve scored four goals of their own in that period. Buijs sets up in a 5-4-1, and it holds early.
Anthony Descotte leads the scoring with five league goals. Ihattaren and Zeefuik have three each, and Zeefuik scored again in the cup at Sparta on Wednesday.
Zeefuik and Shiloh ‘t Zand are both one booking from a suspension. Yassin Oukili is out with a groin injury, Ivan Marquez is unavailable and Ole ter Haar Romeny is a doubt with an ankle problem.
The home form is weaker than the away record: a 5-1 defeat to Ajax, a 1-1 draw with Twente and a 1-0 win over Excelsior last Sunday. Fortuna have still scored in each of their last four league games.
Buijs’s side also rely on Branderhorst behind a five-man defence of De Groot, Hubner, Guth, Van Ottele and Pinto, with Descotte alone up front. Their last six meetings with Feyenoord produced four Feyenoord wins and two draws. Fortuna scored in the 2-1 defeat in May and in a 1-1 draw in November 2024.
Probable lineup Feyenoord: Ernst; Read, Watanabe, St. Juste, Marmol; Zechiel, Vanhoutte, Targhalline; Hadj Moussa, Ferri, Valente
Probable lineup Fortuna Sittard: Branderhorst; De Groot, Hubner, Guth, Van Ottele, Pinto; Peterson, Simons, Michut, Brittijn; Descotte

Our prediction: Feyenoord to win and both teams to score (odds 2.30)
I expect Feyenoord to win, and I don’t expect them to keep Fortuna out. The leaders have scored 32 in ten league games, and they’ve conceded in four of their last five matches, seven goals in that spell.
Fortuna haven’t lost away from home in the league, and they’ve scored in each of their last four league matches. The case against is the history: Feyenoord have won the last three meetings, and two of them finished 2-0.
That’s why the price is 2.30 and not shorter. With Inter three days later and van Bronckhorst missing several defenders, a 3-1 home win is the score I’d expect.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
