Cambuur vs Go Ahead Eagles: six unbeaten for the promoted side, no away win yet for the visitors Eredivisie

Rafik El Arguioui scored Cambuur’s fifth goal in the 6-1 win at Willem II on 24 October and left with a broken nose. He’s a doubt for Saturday, and he’s one of three Cambuur players on five league goals, alongside Nicolas Binder and Ilyes Hamache.

Johan Plat’s promoted side are unbeaten in six league games, three wins and three draws. They’ve scored first in each of their last six matches and won 2-0 at Kloetinge in the KNVB Beker on Tuesday, Sami Bouhoudane scoring in the first and 93rd minutes.

Cambuur are tenth with 12 points from ten games. Go Ahead Eagles are two points and one place above them, ninth on 14 with three wins, five draws, two defeats and a goal difference of zero.

Go Ahead have scored and conceded in all ten of their league games this season, 23 goals each way. They’re unbeaten at home, three wins and two draws, and still looking for their first away win after three draws and two defeats on the road.

Joseph Oosting’s side also played in the cup on Tuesday, winning 5-0 at Koninklijke HFC. Kick-off at the Kooi Stadion is 20:00 UK time on Saturday 31 October.

Cambuur won the last two Eredivisie meetings in Leeuwarden, 4-1 on 5 March 2023 and 5-2 in September 2021. The home side is priced between 2.75 and 3.00, the draw between 3.60 and 3.80 and Go Ahead at 2.20.

Cambuur: unbeaten in six league games, with one home win to show for it Cambuur

Cambuur’s opening weeks were brutal. Excelsior won 4-0 in Leeuwarden, Fortuna Sittard beat them 3-1, Feyenoord won 5-2 at the Kooi Stadion and Twente won 4-1 there too.

Since then they’ve lost none of their six league games. The run includes a 3-0 home win over NEC on 12 September, a 1-0 win at PEC Zwolle on 11 October and a 2-2 draw with AZ a week later, when Bouah was sent off just after half-time and Meerdink equalised from a penalty in the 83rd minute.

The win at Willem II was the most complete display of the season. Binder scored twice, and Hamache, Baouf, El Arguioui and Ceka added the rest.

The home record is still the weak spot. Cambuur have won one, drawn one and lost three in Leeuwarden, scoring eight and conceding 15, and they’ve taken eight of their 12 points on the road.

Jamal Amofa is out until next summer with a cruciate ligament injury, Wout Asselman and Daan Visser are unavailable, and goalkeeper Jasper Meijster has a hand injury. Devid Bouah is back from suspension and should replace Rik Mulders.

The expected back four is Costarelli, Van Duijl, Baouf and the returning Bouah, with Jansen in goal. If El Arguioui doesn’t make it, Ethan Apkakou is the alternative. Over their last five league games Cambuur have scored 13 and conceded four.

Go Ahead Eagles: Tengstedt’s eight goals and a team that concedes every week Go Ahead Eagles

Soren Tengstedt has eight league goals, level with Groningen’s Willumsson at the top of the Eredivisie scoring chart. He scored twice in the 3-2 win over Telstar on 23 October and has scored in five home games in a row.

Away from Deventer the goals dry up and the defence opens. Go Ahead have scored nine and conceded 15 in five away league games, losing 5-2 at AZ on 29 August and 4-1 in the derby at PEC Zwolle on 18 October.

The draws on the road haven’t been comfortable either. At Utrecht they led 3-0 and drew 3-3 to a 90th-minute equaliser, and they also drew 2-2 at Feyenoord and 1-1 at NEC.

Goalkeeper Nick Marsman is out until early January with a knee injury, and Pim Saathof is still missing after a knee problem that has kept him out since May 2025. Kjetil Haug stays in goal as first choice.

Gerrit Nauber is back after a broken leg and played in the cup on Tuesday. Oosting has no new injury worries and has named the same eleven for three matches in a row.

Go Ahead haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league all season. Stefan Sigurdarson has four league goals and Victor Edvardsen and Mathis Suray three each, so there’s support for Tengstedt, but the side has conceded at least once in every game.

Probable lineup Cambuur: Jansen; Costarelli, Van Duijl, Baouf, Bouah; Maertens, Souren; Ceka, El Arguioui, Hamache; Binder

Probable lineup Go Ahead Eagles: Haug; Sampsted, Kramer, Dirksen, James; Meulensteen, Linthorst; Tengstedt, Suray, Sivertsen; Edvardsen

Free Football Prediction: Cambuur vs Go Ahead Eagles

Our prediction: Cambuur or draw, double chance (odds 1.67)

I’m not convinced by Go Ahead as away favourites. They’ve won none of five away league games, conceded three a game on the road, and Cambuur arrive with six league matches unbeaten and 13 goals in their last five.

Cambuur’s home record is the obvious objection: one win in five at the Kooi Stadion, and Tengstedt is the best finisher on the pitch. The heavy home defeats came in the opening weeks against Excelsior, Feyenoord and Twente, though, before this run started.

Double chance on Cambuur at 1.67 covers the draw, a result Go Ahead have produced in three of their five away games. A 2-2 draw is the score I’d expect in Leeuwarden.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
