William Zepeda is world champion. The Mexican beat Lamont Roach in Las Vegas overnight. The judges were unanimous: 117-111, 117-111, 118-110.

The vacant WBC lightweight title was up for grabs, and Zepeda grabbed it with both hands. He piled on the punches for 12 rounds. Roach stayed upright, but he got worn down by the pace.

Nicknamed El Camaron, Zepeda strings together flurries and never lets up. Roach never found an answer.
