Nobody managed to make the breakthrough in the Faroe Islands. After 90 hard-fought minutes, Zalgiris Kaunas and KI Klaksvik finished level and goalless, leaving this tie wide open ahead of the decisive meeting in Lithuania.
That result probably suits the Lithuanian champions a bit more. Coming away from a tricky trip without conceding is a strong outcome, even if the second leg will be played in Jonava rather than Zalgiris Kaunas’s usual home.
Zalgiris Kaunas are aiming to take another step forward 
This side has already shown in qualifying that it knows how to handle knockout football. Against Drita, the Lithuanians also needed a controlled second leg after being held at home. That experience should count for plenty now.
The defensive steel shown in the first leg was one of the main reasons behind Zeljko Sopc’s side. Tomas Svedkauskas stepped up when it mattered, while the back line gave the opposition forwards very little to work with.
Going forward, Kaunas have several players who can decide a match. Renan Oliveira will again be the main threat, with support from Farid Ourega and Ivan Fiolic, whose technical quality could prove decisive in a game likely to be tight.
KI Klaksvik have no room for error 
The Faroe Islands champions may have some regrets after the first leg. More adventurous at times, Magnus Powell’s side created several decent openings but couldn’t get past Svedkauskas.
Used to strong European runs in recent seasons, KI do at least have the experience for this sort of occasion. This squad knows how to travel and already picked up an important win on the road in the previous round.
Pall Klettskard remains the main attacking focal point, while Anri Frederiksberg and Hallur Hansson will need to bring the creativity if they are to unsettle a Lithuanian defence that has been highly disciplined so far.
