Serie A: Juventus lose Yildiz for around two months

Ten league games, one left foot

Juventus opened their Serie A season with a 1-0 win at Frosinone and left the pitch with the worst kind of souvenir. Kenan Yildiz hurt his left foot during the game.

The Turkish forward has since been assessed at the J Medical centre in Turin. The results are not good and surgery is firmly on the table. Gazzetta dello Sport reports Luciano Spalletti could be without him for roughly two months.

At this point in the calendar that is about 10 league games, plus European nights on top.

Spalletti built the attack around him two days ago

Yildiz is not a squad player in Turin. Forty-eight hours before the injury, Spalletti had publicly killed off any suggestion the Turk might leave this window. The plan ran through him.

The internal options are thin. Jeremie Boga can cover the flank. Kerim Alajbegovic is a long-term project, not a man you lean on for 10 Serie A fixtures starting now.

Zirkzee back on the table, at a worse price

The board has a week to react before the window closes.

The interest in Joshua Zirkzee could pick up speed quickly. The Dutch forward fits the shape of exactly what disappeared from the Juventus attack on Sunday.

There is an obvious catch. Selling clubs can smell a medical bulletin from a long way off, and buying in a hurry never costs what it would have cost in July. Seven days to find the right player at a price that does not sting.
