They had been on the road for four straight matches in all competitions before this derby. That run ended on Tuesday with a 1-0 EFL Cup exit at Everton.
League form was much better for Wolverhampton last time out. Raul Jimenez struck in the 90th minute at Sheffield United to seal a 0-1 win and give the campaign a lift.
The problem is obvious. The Mexican picked up a knee injury at Everton, and Peixoto has confirmed he will not be back before the international break.
Adam Armstrong now leads the line for this derby. The England striker has to make up for the absence of the squad’s best finisher in the season’s most watched fixture.
Bertrand Traore also made his first appearance in a Wanderers shirt at Everton in midweek. The Burkinabe had scored in his only previous outing against the Baggies, back in December 2020.
Rafiki Said, signed from Standard Liege in the summer 2026 window, is still waiting to make his Wolverhampton debut. A muscle injury has kept him out since his arrival.

West Bromwich Albion: consistency as a weapon 
Fourteen points and four league games unbeaten: James Morrison has pushed his side into the upper end of the Championship table. The Baggies have not lost in the league since the home game against Middlesbrough.
The results, though, tell a very specific story. In five of their last six league games, West Bromwich Albion have scored just once.
That economy has not stopped them getting results. One-goal wins over Watford and at Derby County showed a side that can handle tight, scrappy matches.
The 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers last Saturday handed them a useful edge ahead of this derby. The Baggies have had more than seven days to recover, while their opponents were in action on Tuesday night.
Nolan Galves remains out at right-back with a knee problem. Brayann Pereira is back from suspension and could return to the back line.
Morrison is still likely to keep Callum Styles on the right side of defence for a game like this. In a derby, continuity beats tinkering.
The Baggies boss was, of course, in midfield for that 5-1 win at Molineux in February 2012. At 40, he will be expecting Rabby Nzingoula and Jayson Molumby to deliver something similar.
West Brom tend to shift gears depending on who they are playing. A 3-1 win over Burnley on opening day was followed by a 3-1 defeat at Middlesbrough, a reminder that they can still crack when the pace goes up.
A trip to Molineux ticks every box for a lively one. The visitors will need to keep a Wolverhampton side quiet that has scored nine times in three home games and has not failed to find the net in front of its own fans.
